Job Summary

As a Digital Solution Architect, you will be the technical lead responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing high-stakes digital transformation projects within the ABB Distributed Control System (DCS) landscape. You will bridge the gap between traditional Operational Technology (OT) and modern Information Technology (IT), integrating ABB Ability System 800xA, Edge devices, and Cloud analytics to deliver enhanced performance, safety, and efficiency for industrial customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture Design & Integration: Define and evolve the technical architecture for DCS platforms, integrating modern cloud-native technologies (containerization, Kubernetes) with established 800xA control systems.
• Digital Transformation: Translate ABB's digital portfolio (IIoT, AI/ML, MES, advanced analytics) into actionable, high-value solutions for client priorities like uptime, energy efficiency, and safety.
• Pre-Sales Technical Leadership: Act as the "trusted advisor" during complex sales pursuits, creating PoCs (Proof of Concepts), conducting live demos, and developing technical proposals.
• Customer Consulting: Collaborate with client engineering teams to understand their OT infrastructure and provide consultative, tailored digital solutions.
• Cybersecurity & Compliance: Ensure all digital solutions adhere to security best practices, IT/OT data privacy requirements, and ABB’s technical roadmap.
• Development & Support: Lead or support development teams in designing high-performance applications using .NET, C#, and SQL for OT integration.
• Feedback Loop: Channel customer feedback on product functionality to R&D teams to improve ABB Ability software and hardware.

Skill Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, Software), Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 7–10+ years of experience in industrial automation, with significant experience as a Solution Architect, Lead Engineer, or Senior Developer in 800xA systems.
• ABB DCS Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of ABB Ability System 800xA, Control Builder (AC 800M), xStream Engineering, and HMI/Graphic Builder.
• Digital Skills: Experience with edge technologies, cloud platforms (Azure preferred), OPC-UA communication, and database management.
• OT/IT Integration: Understanding of Industrial Networking, Firewalls, Cybersecurity (ISA/IEC 62443), and OPC server configuration.
• Soft Skills: Strong presentation, communication, and consultative skills, with the ability to work in a, hybrid, global team environment.

Other Requirements

• Experience with Edge computing tools like ABB Edgenius.
• Knowledge of Data & Analytics (D&A) platforms and AI implementations in Robotics or Process Industries.
• Experience in Agile delivery methods.
