Job Summary
We are looking for a Manager of Field Security Specialists to build and lead our customer-facing cyber solutions engineering function. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can develop an exceptional team while remaining close to technology and our customers. Work across CISO-level strategy, practitioner-level cybersecurity challenges, and hands-on solution design. Your team will help customers explore workflows including application security, secure software development, vulnerability management, threat modeling, cloud and identity security, SOC operations, detection engineering, incident response, and security validation. Establish the operating model for the function, raise the quality of specialist engagements, and personally support our most strategic and technically complex customer opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Hire, coach, develop, and lead a high-performing team of Field Security Specialists.
- Establish the team’s strategy, operating model, engagement criteria, coverage priorities, and standards for customer delivery.
- Prioritize specialist capacity across strategic customers, regions, and approved partner opportunities.
- Lead discovery with CISOs, security executives, engineering leaders, and hands-on practitioners to identify high-value AI-enabled security workflows.
- Set the quality bar for demonstrations, workshops, reference architectures, pilots, evaluations, integrations, and implementation guidance.
- Ensure customer engagements include clear success criteria, appropriate data boundaries, validated findings, safe testing, auditability, and human approval for consequential actions.
- Coach the team to distinguish credible, evidence-backed security outcomes from unvalidated findings or overstated model capabilities.
- Partner closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, AI Deployment Engineering, Product, Engineering, Research, Security, Legal, and GRC.
- Define effective qualification, escalation, engagement, and handoff practices across pre-sales and post-sales teams.
- Turn successful customer engagements into repeatable cyber plays, technical assets, enablement, and actionable product feedback.
- Represent the field’s perspective in product and security discussions, surfacing recurring customer requirements, blockers, and emerging use cases.
Skill Requirements
The following skills are mandatory for this role:
- Have meaningfully led a customer-facing technical security, cybersecurity consulting, or solutions engineering team.
- Have experience hiring, coaching, developing, and performance-managing highly technical team members.
- Bring genuine cybersecurity practitioner credibility and can reason through threat models, trust boundaries, attack paths, exploitability, false positives, and safe remediation.
- Have strong customer and commercial judgment across discovery, qualification, demonstrations, pilots, executive objections, adoption, and expansion.
- Can move comfortably between CISO’s business-risk priorities and a security practitioner’s technical evidence.
- Maintain enough hands-on technical fluency to review code, APIs, GitHub workflows, CI/CD systems, security tooling, agent architectures, integrations, and evaluation approaches.
- Understand how AI workflows use retrieval, structured outputs, tool calling, evaluations, guardrails, telemetry, sandboxing, and human review.
- Lead with evidence and integrity, particularly around customer data, authorized testing, security claims, and high-consequence capabilities.
- Can allocate scarce specialist resources thoughtfully while creating reusable leverage for the broader field.
- Operate effectively in ambiguity and enjoy building new teams, processes, and customer motions from the ground up.
- Communicate clearly with technical, executive, and cross-functional audiences.
Other Requirements
- Familiarity with OpenAI’s models, APIs, Codex, Codex Security, Daybreak, or related cyber capabilities.
- Experience working with security-product companies, global systems integrators, or cybersecurity partners.
- Depth across application security, cloud security, identity, secure SDLC, vulnerability management, detection and response, or attacker tradecraft.
- Experience developing repeatable field assets, technical enablement, or product feedback mechanisms across multiple regions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or relevant cloud, AI, security, architecture, or data certifications.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud; enterprise data platforms; vector databases and search; API management; containers and Kubernetes; DevSecOps; and MLOps/LLMOps toolchains.
- Experience in consultative or presales solutioning, regulated-industry environments, architecture governance, and creation of reusable reference architectures, accelerators, evaluation suites, and bid-response artifacts.
