Job Summary
The L2 AIX Administrator is responsible for administering, supporting, and troubleshooting IBM AIX systems in production environments. The role involves handling incident management, system maintenance, performance monitoring, and supporting upgrades/patching activities while ensuring high availability and compliance with SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
: Provide Level‑2 support for IBM AIX servers in production and non‑production environments\r\nMonitor system health, performance, CPU, memory, disk, and file systems\r\nHandle incident, problem, and change management as per ITIL processes\r\nPerform user administration, access management, and security configurations\r\nExecute AIX OS installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades (TL/SP)\r\nManage LVM activities (VG/LV/FS creation, extension, mirroring)\r\nSupport system reboots, migrations, and hardware refresh activities\r\nTroubleshoot system, application, and performance-related issues\r\nCoordinate with L3 teams, vendors, and application teams for complex issues\r\nMaintain operational documentation, SOPs, and runbooks\r\nParticipate in on-call/shift support as required\r\nEnsure compliance with security, audit, and operational standards
Skill Requirements
Strong experience with IBM AIX administration (v7.x preferred)\r\nHands-on knowledge of:\r\n\r\nLVM (VG, LV, FS)\r\nNIM (Network Installation Manager) – basic to intermediate\r\nSystem startup/shutdown, logs, dumps, and error analysis\r\n\r\n\r\nGood understanding of patching, backups, and recovery\r\nExperience with performance tuning and monitoring tools\r\nExposure to PowerVM / LPAR management\r\nBasic scripting knowledge (Shell scripting preferred)\r\nFamiliarity with enterprise monitoring and ticketing tools
Other Requirements
Knowledge of VIO server concepts\r\nExperience working in 24×7 production support environments\r\nUnderstanding of ITIL processes\r\nExposure to automation or configuration management tools is a plus
