AS400 Technical Specialist

Job Summary

The Technical Specialist (AS400) will be responsible for overseeing the AS400 systems, providing technical support, and ensuring the smooth operation of AS400 environments. The primary objective is to optimize AS400 performance and reliability to meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and monitor as400 systems to ensure high availability and performance.
2. Troubleshoot and resolve as400related issues and incidents promptly.
3. Collaborate with cross functional teams to implement as400 system upgrades and enhancements.
4. Design and implement security measures to protect as400 systems from cyber threats.
5. Develop and maintain technical documentation for as400 systems and procedures.
6. Conduct regular performance tuning to optimize as400 system efficiency.
7. Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.
8. Stay updated on as400 advancements and recommend best practices for implementation.

Skill Requirements

1. Proficiency in as400 administration, including system monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
2. Strong knowledge of as400 hardware, software, and operating systems.
3. Experience in as400 programming languages and tools, such as rpg, cl, and db2.
4. Familiarity with ibm power systems and virtualization technologies on as400.
5. Good understanding of as400 security principles and best practices.
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve complex as400 issues.
7. Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders effectively.
8. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to company policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year (some positions are eligible for need-based leave with no designated number of leave days per year); and 10 paid holidays per year.
