Job Title: MySQL & PostgreSQL Database Support Engineer
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled Database Support Engineer with hands-on experience in MySQL and PostgreSQL to manage, maintain, and support mission-critical database environments. The role involves performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, and ensuring high availability of database systems.

Key Responsibilities
Database Administration & Support
Provide 24/7 production support for MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
Monitor database health, performance, and availability using monitoring tools.
Handle incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and resolution of database issues.
Perform installation, configuration, and upgrades of database servers.
Performance Tuning & Optimization
Analyze slow-running queries and optimize SQL performance.
Implement indexing strategies and query improvements.
Monitor and tune database parameters for optimal performance.
Backup & Recovery
Design and manage backup and restore strategies (logical and physical backups).
Perform regular backup validation and disaster recovery (DR) drills.
Ensure data integrity and availability during failures.
High Availability & Replication
Configure and maintain replication setups (Master-Slave, streaming replication, etc.).
Support failover, clustering, and load balancing solutions.
Ensure minimal downtime and quick recovery.
Security & Compliance
Manage database user roles, privileges, and access control.
Implement database security best practices and audit compliance.
Monitor unauthorized access and apply patches regularly.
Automation & Scripting
Develop scripts (Shell, Python, etc.) for automation of routine DBA tasks.
Implement database monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with application, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
Maintain proper documentation for configurations, processes, and SOPs.
Provide support during deployments and releases.
Key Responsibilities
2. To provide support for on call escalations and doing root cause analysis of given issue.
3. Work on value adding activities such Knowledge base update & management, Training freshers, coaching analysts.
4. To independently resolve tickets within agreed SLA of ticket volume and time.
5. To ensure positive customer experience and CSAT through First Call Resolution and minimum rejected resolutions / Reopen Cases.
Skill Requirements
Technical Skills
Strong experience with:
MySQL (5.x/8.x)
PostgreSQL (9.x and above)
Expertise in:
Query optimization & indexing
Backup tools (mysqldump, pg_dump, XtraBackup, etc.)
Replication and clustering
Knowledge of:
Linux/Unix environments
SQL and database design principles
Performance monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
Scripting & Tools
Experience with Shell/Python scripting
Familiarity with version control (Git)
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure Database, etc.) is a plus
