Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled NoSQL Database Engineer with strong expertise in Cassandra (DSE) and Couchbase to design, implement, administer, and support scalable, high-performance database platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in distributed database architectures, NoSQL data modeling, performance optimization, and multi-datacenter deployments within large enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

: Cassandra (DSE) Administration Design, build, administer, and support DataStax Enterprise (DSE) Cassandra clusters. Manage and maintain DSE OpsCenter for monitoring, administration, and operational management. Execute data center migrations and major version upgrades with minimal business impact and downtime. Design and optimize NoSQL data models and schema structures for performance, scalability, and resilience. Perform cluster administration activities, including: Capacity planning Node management and optimization Cluster expansion and rebalancing Implement and manage multi-datacenter (Multi-DC) deployments and replication strategies. Perform routine maintenance activities, including: Repairs Snapshots Backup and restore operations Troubleshoot and resolve database performance, availability, and stability issues. Conduct performance tuning of Cassandra clusters to optimize throughput, latency, and resource utilization. Implement and maintain high-availability, replication, failover, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions. Ensure database security, encryption, compliance, and data protection standards are maintained. Couchbase Administration & Engineering Administer and maintain enterprise-scale Couchbase clusters in multi-node and multi-service environments. Configure and manage XDCR (Cross Data Center Replication) across multiple clusters and datacenters. Perform backup and recovery operations while ensuring data integrity and availability. Execute bucket and dataset migrations across Couchbase environments. Optimize Couchbase clusters and supporting infrastructure, including operating system-level tuning. Monitor cluster health, performance, and capacity to ensure high availability and operational stability. Troubleshoot and resolve Couchbase performance, replication, and infrastructure-related issues. Operational Support & Service Management Own the end-to-end database lifecycle, including planning, deployment, administration, maintenance, upgrades, and optimization. Provide L2/L3 production support for: Production incidents Performance issues Service degradation scenarios Availability and resiliency concerns Ensure timely resolution of outages and adherence to SLAs through effective coordination with cross-functional teams. Participate in on-call support rotations and incident management activities. Maintain high standards of system reliability, operational excellence, and security compliance. Ensure database solutions align with enterprise architecture, governance, and design standards. Collaborate with application development teams to support data architecture, performance improvements, and platform modernization initiatives.

 

Skill Requirements

Technical Expertise Strong hands-on experience with: DSE Cassandra, including OpsCenter Couchbase Administration and Cluster Management Proven expertise in: Distributed database architectures NoSQL data modeling and schema design Performance tuning and optimization Capacity planning and scalability engineering Experience with: Multi-datacenter deployments (HA/DR) Cluster migrations and version upgrades Cross-datacenter replication technologies Deep understanding of: Backup and recovery strategies Replication and failover mechanisms Security, encryption, and compliance controls High availability and disaster recovery architectures Strong troubleshooting skills across database, operating system, and infrastructure layers.

Other Requirements

Experience supporting large-scale enterprise database environments. Exposure to cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures. Experience with database monitoring, observability, and automation frameworks. Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and operational automation practices. Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical production environment.
