Job Summary

Unix:
•    Install, monitor, maintain, and upgrade UNIX/Linux system software across company servers and infrastructure platforms.
•    Create, administer, and maintain UNIX/Linux user accounts, privileged access controls, and access-management procedures in accordance with internal security standards.
•    Define, implement, and maintain standardized backup, recovery, and security policies to support operational resilience and regulatory compliance.
•    Plan, coordinate, test, and execute UNIX/Linux security patches, firmware updates, and operating-system upgrades through controlled maintenance windows and approved change-management processes.
•    Drive patch-compliance activities by identifying vulnerabilities, prioritizing remediation actions, validating successful implementation, documenting exceptions, and maintaining evidence required for audit and compliance purposes.
•    Coordinate secure patch-release activities with application owners, cyber-security teams, infrastructure teams, and change approvers to reduce operational risk and minimize disruption to business services.

Database:
•    Administer, monitor, and maintain the database environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and security for business-critical applications.  
•    Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitoring system performance and implementing tuning strategies to ensure optimal database operation.
•    Perform database backup and recovery operations, including participation in Disaster Recovery (DR) tests to ensure data integrity and continuity.  
•    Install, configure, and manage database systems (Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2) and related components, such as ODA Oracle Appliances, Oracle RAC and DB2 HADR.  
•    Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, conduct root cause analysis, and optimize performance through tuning and improvement strategies.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage capacity requirements, implement security measures (e.g., Oracle TDE, data masking), and support operational workflows.  
•    Security Management: Implement access controls and introduce company security policies to safeguard data integrity and confidentiality.
•    Vulnerability Management: Review, assess, prioritize, and remediate database-related vulnerabilities in coordination with application, infrastructure, and cyber security teams, ensuring risks are addressed within agreed remediation timelines.
•    Cyber Hygiene and Compliance Remediation: Drive remediation activities required to meet Firm cyber hygiene standards, internal control obligations, audit requirements, and regulatory expectations for database platforms.

Skill Requirements

Years of exp: Min 5 years
Unix Skills:
•    Experience in UNIX/Linux server administration and production infrastructure support.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems, network protocols, file systems, storage technologies, and enterprise infrastructure standards.
•    Sound understanding of high-availability architectures, disaster-recovery principles, and load-balancing technologies.
•    Advanced troubleshooting, capacity-planning, root-cause analysis, and risk-assessment capabilities in complex IT environments.
•    Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as Nimsoft, Geneos, and New Relic.
•    Proven ability to configure, harden, and secure mission-critical UNIX/Linux servers in line with enterprise security baselines.

Operating system and tooling knowledge:
•    Oracle Enterprise Linux 7 and 8.
•    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, 8, and 9.
•    Shell scripting for automation, validation, and operational reporting.
•    Automation and configuration-management experience with Ansible.
•    Virtualization experience with VMware.

Database Skills:
Skills:
•    Hands-on experience in database administration, including the configuration and management of Oracle, MS SQL Server, and DB2 environments.  
•    Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and Windows server operating systems, with scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts) for automation and troubleshooting.  
•    Strong knowledge of database backup/recovery strategies, high-availability solutions (e.g., mirroring, RAC, HADR), and performance tuning.  
•    Familiarity with security practices such as Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and data masking in Oracle.  
•    Strong understanding of vulnerability assessment, patch lifecycle management, remediation planning, and compliance tracking within enterprise technology environments.
•    Experience working with cyber hygiene remediation processes, risk exceptions, audit evidence, and control reporting in regulated or financial services environments.
•    Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends (for maintenance/DR tasks)
