Job Summary : Job Description: Data Center FieldOps Technician (RunOps Technician)\r\nSummary\r\nThe Datacenter FieldOps team is responsible for supporting all production network cabling in the Datacenter. This global team offers a unique career opportunity to work with the latest network technologies and talented engineers solving complex problems in the industry.\r\nJob Duties and Responsibilities\r\nCabling & Termination\r\n● Support and complete all scheduled data center Moves/Adds/Changes (MACs).\r\n● Perform hardware installation MACs, including device labeling, power, and network cable connectivity.\r\n● Complete hardware support work orders involving MACs, certification, troubleshooting, and break-fix.\r\n● Manage assets, auditing, and daily work log/ticket tracking.\r\n● Provide smart-hands assistance within specified SLA response times (on-call duties may apply).\r\n● Maintain a safe and secure operating environment and report violations.\r\n● Maintain detailed documentation and record keeping.\r\n● Follow site security protocols, badging requirements, and data protection procedures.\r\n● Ensure proper logging, securing, and documentation of media storage devices.\r\n● Use network hardware/components, copper and fiber infrastructure installation and testing tools, and datacenter infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.\r\n● Coordinate equipment/material receiving, shipping, and RMA processing.\r\n● Provide vendor and security escorts as needed.\r\n● Perform general cleaning of floor, cabinet/rack surfaces, work benches, and other areas regularly.\r\n● Support standard and emergency operating procedures for the data center.\r\n● Provide status reporting on service availability, performance, and capacity utilization.\r\n● Conduct daily error log reporting and physical inspections for general health, power, cooling, and hazards.\r\n● Coordinate equipment installation and delivery schedules per project plans.\r\n● Perform on-call duties as needed.\r\nFiber Technician Specific Duties\r\n● Basic copper termination skills required.\r\n● Mount and install racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware, and grounding.\r\n● Perform testing: continuity tests, use of volt-ohmmeter, troubleshoot cable issues, and use tone sets.\r\n● Install various fiber connectors (LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, MPO/MTP) for multi-mode and single-mode fiber.\r\n● Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cords, breakout outside plant fiber, and indoor tight buffered fiber.\r\n● Install fan-out kits including buffer tubes.\r\n● Calculate end-to-end loss budgets per TIA/EIA standards.\r\n● Complete paperwork accurately and timely (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers).\r\n● Perform testing using OTDR, Fluke, and EFXO.\r\n● Troubleshoot network issues using OTDR.\r\n● Perform mechanical and fusion splicing with all fiber cable types.\r\n● Perform building entrance splices, maintenance space, and direct buried splices.\r\nAdditional Requirements\r\n● 25% travel required.\r\n● Available to work shifts (8, 10, 12 hours), weekends, and holidays.\r\nPhysical and Mental Requirements\r\n● Self-motivated, positive, professional, and proactive in process improvements.\r\n● Promote company culture and mission.\r\n● Proficient with required tools.\r\n● Act as company liaison with customer representatives.\r\n● Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.\r\n● Ability to work at heights, off ladders, in confined spaces.\r\n● Lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.\r\n● Good color vision, ability to read small print, and recognize audible signals.\r\n● Willingness to travel as needed.\r\nEducation, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements\r\n● High School diploma or GED equivalent.\r\n● Proficient with listed tools.\r\n● Skilled in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems
