Job Summary
The Data Product Manager owns enterprise data products from end to end and plays an active role in Data Governance. This role is responsible for defining, shaping, and managing curated datasets so they are trusted, well governed, and easy to consume. Acting as both a data product owner and a governance partner, the Data Product Manager ensures data products meet enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
The role works closely with Data Engineering, Data Governance, Commercial, Legal, and Compliance teams and serves as a key point of accountability for how data products are defined, governed, and delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Data Product Ownership
• Own data products from concept through delivery, including curated datasets, analytical views, and consumable data assets.
• Define the purpose, scope, and roadmap for assigned data products in partnership with business and governance stakeholders.
• Act as the primary point of contact for data products and help teams understand what data is available and how to use it.
• Ensure data products are discoverable, documented, and fit for their intended use.
Data Contracts and Consumption
• Define and maintain data contracts covering schemas, definitions, quality expectations, SLAs, and access patterns.
• Work closely with Data Engineering teams to ensure delivery aligns with approved contracts and governance standards.
• Support internal teams and external customers with data delivery needs, including monetized data products.
• Manage changes to data products and contracts through formal governance and change control processes.
Data Governance and Stewardship
• Actively participate in Data Governance as a domain level Data Product Owner within a Data Mesh operating model.
• Partner with Data Governance, Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to define and enforce enterprise data standards.
• Maintain business definitions, metadata, classifications, and lineage for assigned data products.
• Help define, monitor, and improve data quality rules, controls, and metrics.
Cross Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Architecture, Analytics, Commercial, and Compliance teams.
• Translate business and regulatory needs into clear data product and governance requirements.
• Support onboarding of data consumers and resolve issues impacting trust, quality, or compliance.
Operational Excellence
• Monitor data product health, adoption, quality, and usage.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or retire data products.
• Support data quality investigations, audits, and incident resolution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data governance and data product practices.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with clinical laboratory data, diagnostics, or healthcare data products in regulated environments
• Experience working in regulated environments with sensitive data.
• 5+ years of experience in data management, analytics, informatics, or data product roles.
Knowledge
• Data Product Management, Data Governance, Data Contracts, Metadata, Data Quality, Privacy and Compliance, Modern Data Platforms.
• Understanding of clinical laboratory data, diagnostics workflows, and related analytics or reporting use cases.
Skill Requirements
