Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Developer / Lead Software Engineer with 10+ years of overall IT experience and a minimum of 8 years of hands-on Python development experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and developing scalable, cloud-native applications, with expertise in FastAPI, asynchronous programming, and performance optimization.

The role requires extensive experience in building high-quality, testable software using Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices and working within Agile environments that embrace Lean principles and continuous improvement. Candidates should have experience combining data engineering capabilities with core software engineering practices to deliver robust and scalable data-driven solutions.

The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, containerization technologies, and modern DevOps practices, including familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions. Exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles is desirable. This role demands excellent problem-solving skills, a passion for engineering excellence, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications and services using Python following software engineering best practices.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs and backend services using FastAPI, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Develop and optimize asynchronous processing solutions to improve application performance and responsiveness.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, leveraging Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and automated testing frameworks.
• Profile, troubleshoot, and optimize Python applications to improve performance, efficiency, and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, actively participating in sprint planning, development, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Apply Agile and Lean principles to continuously improve software delivery processes and product quality.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Develop and manage containerized applications using Docker and related container technologies.
• Integrate software engineering and data engineering practices to build robust, data-driven applications and processing pipelines.
• Support CI/CD implementation and automation activities, including working with tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Participate in solution design discussions, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making processes.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security requirements, quality guidelines, and software development best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles where applicable to create maintainable and business-aligned software solutions.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of overall IT experience with 8+ years of hands-on Python development experience.
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale applications in Agile and fast-paced development environments.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Experience developing and maintaining cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized application deployment.
• Strong understanding of API development, integration patterns, and distributed systems architecture.
• Experience implementing automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and BDD-based testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD best practices and automated deployment pipelines; experience with GitHub Actions is advantageous.
• Exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) concepts and enterprise application architecture is preferred.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
• Experience working closely with product owners, architects, DevOps engineers, and data engineering teams.
• Strong focus on application performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
