Job Summary
| The Workato SME is responsible for end-to-end ownership of integration design, development, governance, and support using the Workato iPaaS platform. This role acts as the technical authority for enterprise integrations, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and adherence to client and organizational standards. The SME supports project delivery, AMS operations, hypercare, and continuous improvement, working closely with business stakeholders, architects, and client teams. |
Key Responsibilities
| Key Responsibilities Integration Design & Development Design and develop Workato recipes for complex, enterprise-grade integrations across HR, Finance, WFM, SaaS, and custom platforms Define integration patterns (API-led, event-driven, batch, real-time) aligned with enterprise architecture Build and maintain custom connectors, REST/SOAP API integrations, and data transformations Ensure reusability, version control, and performance optimization of integrations Platform Ownership & Governance Act as Workato platform owner/SME for assigned accounts or programs Define and enforce integration standards, best practices, and naming conventions Manage environments, connection configurations, security credentials, and role-based access Ensure compliance with SoD, audit, and data security requirements AMS & Production Support Provide L2/L3 support for Workato integrations in BAU and AMS models Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and recurring integration failures Monitor integrations for failures, latency, and throughput issues Drive MTTR and MTTA improvement through proactive monitoring and automation enhancements Delivery & Stakeholder Management Work with BAs, functional SMEs, and client IT teams to translate requirements into integrations Support cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities for new integrations Review and validate integration designs from team members or partners Provide technical inputs for RFPs, SOWs, estimations, and solution proposals Enablement & Knowledge Leadership Mentor junior developers and integration engineers on Workato best practices Create and maintain integration documentation, runbooks, and SOPs Drive knowledge transition (KT) and cross-team enablement Stay current with Workato platform enhancements and new connector capabilities Required Skills & Experience Technical Skills Strong hands-on experience with Workato iPaaS Deep understanding of REST APIs, JSON, XML, OAuth, webhooks Experience integrating SaaS applications (e.g., HR, Finance, Payroll, WFM systems) Knowledge of error handling, retries, logging, and monitoring in integrations Experience with data mapping, transformation, and validation rules Process & Delivery Skills Experience working in Enterprise AMS / BAU operating models Strong RCA, troubleshooting, and incident management skills Ability to work in multi-country, multi-system landscapes Familiarity with change management, CAB, and release governance Preferred Qualifications Workato Professional / Automation Pro certification Experience in large enterprise or global transformation programs Exposure to UKG, Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, or similar enterprise platforms Prior experience working with global clients and offshore–onshore delivery models Success Metrics Integration stability and reduced production incidents Improved MTTR / MTTA for integration issues Reusability and standardization of Workato recipes Positive client feedback on integration quality and responsiveness |
