Job Summary
The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team is a crucial part of the finance organization, responsible for providing senior management with accurate forecasts of the company’s profit and loss (income statement) and operating performance for upcoming quarters and years. The role also involves supporting management in communications with external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze the company’s historical financial performance and assess key assumptions and trends that may impact future results.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as operations, sales, marketing, treasury, and accounting to gather and synthesize relevant financial information.
- Connect senior management’s long-term strategic plan to actionable operating and financial plans, ensuring alignment across the organization.
- Develop, update, and manage the company’s annual budget and/or rolling forecasts, adapting to changing business conditions as needed.
- Conduct variance analysis to compare actual performance against budgets and forecasts, providing clear explanations and actionable insights to management.
- Advise management on strategies to improve performance, minimize risks, and capitalize on new opportunities, considering both internal and external factors.
- Create comprehensive monthly reports (e.g., CFO or Senior Management books) that include:
- Analysis of historical financials
- Variance explanations
- Updated forecasts with identified risks and opportunities
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
