Job Summary
The Capacity Manager is responsible for ensuring that IT infrastructure, applications, and resources are consistently available to meet current and future business demands. This includes forecasting, planning, monitoring, and optimizing capacity across data centers, cloud environments, and application landscapes. Key Responsibilities 1. Capacity Planning & Forecasting Develop and maintain capacity plans aligned with business demand forecasts Track current capacity versus future demand projections Identify potential capacity risks and initiate mitigation plans 2. Infrastructure & Resource Optimization Monitor utilization across compute, storage, network, and applications Optimize resource allocation to ensure cost efficiency and performance Drive rightsizing, consolidation, and decommissioning activities 3. Demand Management Collaborate with business, application, and infrastructure teams to capture demand Validate incoming requirements against existing capacity frameworks Align provisioning plans with project timelines and BAU needs 4. Governance & Reporting Define and maintain capacity management framework, KPIs, and thresholds Provide periodic reports (weekly/monthly) on capacity utilization and risks Present updates in governance forums (SteerCo, customer reviews, etc.) 5. Risk Management Identify capacity bottlenecks that may impact service delivery Maintain capacity risk register and mitigation roadmap Ensure proactive actions to avoid outages or performance degradation 6. Stakeholder Management Interface with customer stakeholders (e.g., Siemens) for capacity planning discussions Coordinate with internal teams (Cloud, AD, VMware, Storage, Backup, Network) Drive alignment during migrations, expansions, and transformation programs 7. Automation & Tooling Leverage monitoring and reporting tools (e.g., CMDB, MyCloud, analytics tools) Support automation initiatives for capacity tracking and reporting Improve data accuracy across inventory and usage systems Required Skills & Experience 8–12 years of experience in IT infrastructure / operations / capacity management Strong understanding of: Data center & cloud environments (Azure/AWS/Private Cloud) Compute, storage, virtualization (VMware), and network concepts Experience in capacity planning tools, reporting dashboards, and analytics Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem) Strong stakeholder communication and governance handling skill
