Job Summary

  1. Sound technical knowledge of electrical & electromechanical concepts and applications - components, schematics, electrical system, PCB, cable & harness
  2. Component obsolescence forecasting and risk mitigation strategies
  3. Component selection; alternate source identification & FFF Validation
  4. BOM Analysis / Comparison (Module Impact and Structure Analysis)
  5. Product Lifecycle Methodology and PLM / ERP tools
  6. Engineering change management methodology
  7. CAD & PCB design and tools
  8. Environmental Directives & Compliance (RoHS/REACH/WEEE)
  9. Safety Compliance (UL/CSA/FCC)
  10. Materials Mgmt - Risk analysis & LTB estimation
  11. ECO and Change Management

A strong analytical and problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate With Cross-Functional Stakeholders To Understand Business Objectives And Integrate Design For Manufacturability (Dfm) Principles Into Product Development Processes.
2. Lead And Mentor A Team Of Designers, Providing Guidance In The Application Of Dfm Techniques And Ensuring The Delivery Of High-Quality Design Solutions That Meet Business Goals.
3. Present Design Concepts And Strategies To Stakeholders, Utilizing Tools Such As Cad Software And Simulation Tools For Effective Communication And To Gather Actionable Feedback.
4. Establish And Maintain Dfm Standards, Guidelines, And Best Practices, Ensuring Consistency And Quality Across All Design Projects.
5. Stay Updated On Industry Trends And Emerging Technologies Related To Dfm, Leveraging This Knowledge To Drive Innovation And Improve Design Processes.

Skill Requirements

1. Strong Knowledge Of Design For Manufacturability (Dfm) Principles And Practices.
2. Proficiency In Pcb Design Tools And Cad Software.
3. Solid Understanding Of Component Engineering And Its Integration Into The Design Process.
4. Excellent Communication And Presentation Skills For Stakeholder Engagement.
5. In-Depth Analytical Skills For Evaluating Design Concepts Against Manufacturing Capabilities.

Other Requirements

1. Optional But Valuable Certifications: Certified Product Design And Development Management (Cpdd), Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
