Job Summary
We are seeking a highly technical, automation-focused 3D Asset Creation & Support Services Specialist to bridge the gap between traditional technical art and advanced physics engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for building, optimizing, and managing a massive library containing tens of thousands of 3D assets optimized specifically for high-fidelity physics simulations within MuJoCo.
Key Responsibilities
-
Scalable Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain automated pipelines to ingest, clean, and process a large volume (order of tens of thousands) of raw 3D assets, systematically preparing them for large-scale simulation training.
-
Automated Mesh Decomposition: Implement and automate geometric optimization workflows, leveraging convex decomposition algorithms (such as V-HACD) or primitive shapes (capsules, spheres, boxes) to convert complex meshes into highly efficient, simulatable collision geometries.
-
Simulation Inspection & Tuning: Analyze and inspect simulated assets to identify, understand, and resolve complex physical failure modes (e.g., interpenetration, exploding joints, or numerical instability). Make informed design trade-offs between simulation accuracy and computational performance ($Hz$).
-
Physical Property Attribution: Mathematically define and validate realistic physical properties for 3D assets, ensuring accurate mass distribution, inertia tensors, center of mass, friction coefficients, and restitution values within the MuJoCo environment.
-
On-Demand Asset Creation: Author high-quality, physically accurate 3D models from scratch using industry-standard modeling software (e.g., Blender, Maya, Houdini) to meet specific, bespoke experimental requests from the research team.
