Job Summary
1. Role Overview We are seeking a seasoned SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) Module Lead with 10–12 years of hands-on functional experience to spearhead the end-to-end design, configuration, and deployment of the SAP PM / EAM solution as part of a large-scale greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation for a manufacturing client. This is a high-impact leadership role that requires deep domain expertise in asset management and maintenance operations, combined with a proven track record of delivering complex SAP transformations in a manufacturing environment. The SAP PM Module Lead will serve as the primary functional SME (Subject Matter Expert), working directly with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, industry-aligned SAP solutions. The incumbent will oversee functional workstream delivery, mentor a team of junior consultants, and ensure seamless integration of the PM module with other SAP workstreams including MM, PP, FI/CO, QM, and PS. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Greenfield Implementation Leadership Lead the full project lifecycle for the SAP PM workstream — covering Explore, Design, Build, Test, Deploy, and Run phases in alignment with SAP Activate methodology. Drive Fit-to-Standard workshops with plant and engineering stakeholders to establish the future-state asset management blueprint. Develop the SAP PM functional design specifications, configuration documentation (Business Blueprint / Solution Design), and functional specification documents. Define and establish the greenfield master data framework: Functional Location (FLOC) hierarchy, Equipment master structures, Maintenance Plans, Task Lists, Work Centers, and Measuring Points. Co-ordinate data migration strategy for PM master data and transactional data (IDoc, LSMW, LTMC / LTMOM), ensuring data quality and completeness. Own User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and System Integration Testing (SIT) for the PM workstream; manage defect tracking and resolution cycles. B. Solution Design & Configuration Configure and validate SAP S/4HANA EAM / PM module covering: Equipment & Functional Location hierarchy management Preventive Maintenance (time-based, counter-based, and strategy-based plans) Corrective Maintenance — Maintenance Notifications (M1, M2, M3) and Work Orders (PM01–PM05) Maintenance Planning & Scheduling (MRP-based and capacity planning) Work Clearance Management (WCM) / Permit-to-Work Predictive Maintenance integration with IoT and APM tools Breakdown Maintenance and Emergency Work Order processing Refurbishment Orders and Warranty Management Plant Maintenance Information System (PMIS) / Maintenance Analytics Implement SAP Fiori apps for PM (e.g., Manage Maintenance Orders, My Notifications, Maintenance Worker Fiori Launchpad) aligned with S/4HANA best practices. Configure Plant Maintenance settings for multi-plant / multi-site manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
C. Cross-Module Integration Drive integration design between SAP PM and adjacent modules: MM (Materials Management) — MRO spare parts, reservations, and goods movements PP (Production Planning) — Downtime notifications, equipment availability, and integration with production orders FI/CO (Finance & Controlling) — Cost center assignments, internal orders, and maintenance cost reporting QM (Quality Management) — Inspection lots triggered from maintenance notifications PS (Project System) — Capital maintenance and shutdown projects EHS — Work Clearance and safety permit integration Liaise with integration/middleware architects for interfaces with external systems (e.g., SCADA, MES, GIS, CMMS, IoT platforms, Asset Performance Management tools). D. Stakeholder Management & Team Leadership Act as primary point of contact for plant and maintenance business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Manage and mentor a team of 3–6 SAP PM functional consultants (onshore/offshore); review work products and ensure delivery quality. Conduct change management activities: prepare end-user training materials, deliver key-user training sessions, and support hypercare stabilization. Coordinate with PMO on workstream milestone tracking, issue escalation, and risk management. Collaborate with ABAP/technical teams for custom enhancements, reports, user exits, and Fiori app extensions. E. Post Go-Live & Continuous Improvement Lead hypercare support activities post go-live and manage transition to the Application Management Services (AMS) team. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in asset management processes post-implementation. Stay current with SAP EAM/PM product roadmap, S/4HANA releases, and emerging technologies (AI-driven predictive maintenance, SAP Build Apps, etc.). 3. Mandatory Qualifications Educational Background Bachelor's degree (B.E. / B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. MBA or Master's degree in Operations / Engineering Management is an added advantage. Experience 10–12 years of total SAP experience with a minimum of 8 years of dedicated, hands-on SAP PM / EAM functional consulting experience. Minimum 3 full end-to-end SAP PM implementations, with at least 1 as a Functional Module Lead or Work Stream Lead. At least 1 greenfield SAP implementation experience in a discrete or process manufacturing environment is mandatory. Demonstrable experience working on SAP S/4HANA projects (greenfield, brownfield, or selective data transition). 5. Preferred Qualifications & Added Value SAP Certified Application Associate — SAP S/4HANA Asset Management (C_TS413) or equivalent SAP PM certification. Exposure to SAP EAM add-ons or adjacent solutions: SAP Asset Intelligence Network (AIN), SAP Predictive Asset Insights (PAI), SAP Work Manager / Service Manager mobile apps. Knowledge of ISO 55000 (Asset Management), TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), or RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) frameworks. Experience with third-party integrations: GIS platforms (Esri), IoT middleware, MES (Manufacturing Execution System), or CMM
