Job Summary

1.  Role Overview  We are seeking a highly experienced SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) Module Lead with 10–12 years of hands-on functional expertise to own the end-to-end design, configuration, and deployment of the SAP SD workstream as part of a large-scale greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation for a manufacturing client. This is a senior leadership role that demands deep domain expertise across the complete Order-to-Cash (OTC) cycle — from customer master data and sales order management through delivery, transportation, billing, and accounts receivable integration — combined with a strong understanding of manufacturing-specific sales processes.  The SAP SD Module Lead will serve as the primary functional SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the SD workstream, working directly with Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, Finance, and Operations stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into scalable, future-ready SAP solutions. The role spans the full SAP Activate methodology: Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, and Run — encompassing Fit-to-Standard workshops, solution design, configuration ownership, cross-module integration, data migration, testing, training, and hypercare support.  2.  Key Responsibilities  A.  Greenfield Implementation Leadership  Lead the SAP SD workstream through all SAP Activate phases: Explore (Fit-to-Standard workshops), Realize (design, build, test), Deploy, and Run.  Facilitate Fit-to-Standard and business process workshops with Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, Finance, and Manufacturing stakeholders to establish the future-state Order-to-Cash blueprint.  Author and maintain all SD functional documentation: Business Blueprint / Solution Design, Configuration Rationale Documents, Business Process Procedures (BPPs), Functional Specifications (FS), and Test Scripts.  Define the master data framework for SD: Customer Master (Business Partner migration from KNA1 to BP in S/4HANA), Sales Organization structures, Distribution Channels, Divisions, Sales Areas, and Condition Master.  Lead data migration strategy and execution for SD master and transactional data using LTMC / LTMOM, LSMW, and Migration Cockpit — ensuring completeness, accuracy, and business sign-off.  Own and drive SIT (System Integration Testing) and UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for the SD workstream; manage defect lifecycle, root cause analysis, and resolution.  Lead cutover planning and execution for SD: open sales order migration, open delivery migration, customer account balance carry-forward, and go-live readiness sign-off.  B.  Order-to-Cash (OTC) Solution Design & Configuration  Configure and validate SAP S/4HANA SD module covering the full Order-to-Cash cycle:  Organizational structure: Sales Organization, Distribution Channel, Division, Sales Area, Sales Office, Sales Group, and Plant assignments  Customer Master / Business Partner: BP migration, partner functions, customer account groups, and credit management master data  Sales Order Management: Sales order types (standard, rush, third-party, consignment, returns, credit/debit memos), item categories, schedule lines, and incompletion procedures  Pricing & Conditions: Pricing procedures, condition types (price, discounts, surcharges, freight, taxes), condition tables, access sequences, and pricing determination  Availability Check (ATP): Checking rules, ATP categories, backorder processing, and integration with PP/MM for MRP-driven availability  Credit Management (SAP FSCM / FI-AR Credit):   Credit limit checks, credit exposure, credit blocks, and integration with FI accounts receivable  Delivery Processing: Outbound delivery types, picking, packing, goods issue (GI), batch management

Key Responsibilities

Transportation Management (basic TM): Routes, shipping conditions, freight cost determination, and carrier selection Billing: Billing document types, billing plans (milestone and periodic), pro forma invoices, invoice split criteria, and intercompany billing Returns & Complaints: Return order processing, returns delivery, credit memo procedure, inspection integration with QM, and advance return management Rebate & Bonus Management: Rebate agreements, condition types for rebates, and accruals processing Revenue Recognition: SAP RAR (Revenue Accounting and Reporting) integration aligned with IFRS 15 / ASC 606 for project-based or contract-based revenue Implement SAP Fiori apps for SD (e.g., Manage Sales Orders, Sales Order Fulfillment, My Quotations, Customer Returns, Manage Billing Documents) aligned with S/4HANA best practices. Configure SD for multi-plant, multi-company-code manufacturing environments including inter-company sales, intra-company stock transfers, and STO (Stock Transfer Orders). Design and configure variant configuration (VC) or configurable product processes for make-to-order (MTO) manufacturing scenarios. Set up EDI / IDoc message types for customer order integration: ORDERS, ORDRSP, DESADV, INVOIC aligned with customer and trading partner requirements. C.  Cross-Module Integration Drive end-to-end integration design between SAP SD and adjacent modules: MM (Materials Management) — Third-party order processing, STO, consignment, and goods movement PP (Production Planning) — Make-to-order (MTO) production triggered by sales orders, ATP integration, and delivery scheduling \FI/CO (Finance & Controlling) — Revenue account determination, credit management (FSCM), FI-AR integration, profitability analysis (CO-PA) WM / EWM (Warehouse Management) — Transfer orders, delivery integration, and goods issue confirmation QM (Quality Management) — Quality inspection triggered on customer returns, certificate of analysis (CoA) printing PS (Project Systems) — Project-based sales, resource-related billing (RRB), and milestone billing for customer projects TM (Transportation Management) — Freight order creation, carrier tendering, and freight settlement integration GTS (Global Trade Services) — Export compliance, sanctioned party list screening, and customs document generation for international shipments Coordinate with integration/middleware architects for external system interfaces: CRM/Salesforce, e-commerce platforms, customer portals, 3PL/LSP systems, and tax engines (e.g., Vertex, SAP Tax Service). Lead EDI/ALE design with BASIS and ABAP teams for customer-facing message types and partner profiles.    Stakeholder Management & Team Leadership  Act as the primary SAP SD SME and point of contact for Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, Finance, and Operations business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.  Lead, manage, and mentor a team of 3–6 SAP SD functional consultants (onshore/offshore); conduct work product reviews and ensure delivery quality.  Design and deliver role-based end-user training: develop training content, conduct key-user training sessions, and publish post-go-live user guides and quick reference cards.  Partner with PMO on workstream milestone tracking, RAID log management, and executive-level escalation management.  Interface with ABAP/technical teams for custom enhancements (BADIs, user exits, VOFM routines), reports, smart forms/Adobe forms, and Fiori app extensions specific to SD.  E.  Post Go-Live & Continuous Improvement  Lead hypercare support (4–8 weeks post go-live) and manage knowledge transfer and transition to the AMS team.  Support period-end activities: rebate settlements, revenue recognition runs, credit exposure recalcula tion, and open order/delivery reviews.  Identify and propose continuous improvem

Mandatory Qualifications 

 

Educational Background 

Bachelor's degree (B.E. / B.Tech. / BBA / B.Com) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. 

MBA or Master's degree in Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, or Information Systems is an advantage. 

PMP or PRINCE2 certification is an added plus. 

 

Experience Requirements 

10–12 years of total SAP experience with a minimum of 8 years of dedicated, hands-on SAP SD functional consulting expertise. 

Minimum 3 full end-to-end SAP SD / OTC implementations, with at least 1 as Functional Module Lead or Work Stream Lead. 

At least 1 greenfield SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC implementation in a discrete or process manufacturing environment is mandatory. 

Demonstrated experience on SAP S/4HANA SD projects (greenfield preferred; brownfield or SLT selective data migration also considered). 

Strong exposure to manufacturing sales processes: Make-to-Order, Configure-to-Order, third-party procurement, inter-company sales, and consignment processing.
