Job Summary

The Project Financial Coordinator supports financial management across the project/program lifecycle, including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, invoicing coordination, revenue tracking, financial reporting, and governance support. The role acts as a liaison between Project Managers, PMO, Finance, Procurement, Delivery teams, and business stakeholders to maintain accurate project financials and timely financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Budget Management

  • Support project budget preparation, cost estimation, and baseline creation.
  • Maintain project budget trackers and monitor budget utilization.
  • Assist Project Managers with financial planning, monthly forecasts, and reforecast cycles.
  • Track project expenditures against approved budgets and highlight variances early.

Cost Tracking and Financial Control

  • Monitor project costs, purchase orders, vendor invoices, resource expenses, and accruals.
  • Reconcile actual spending against approved budgets and financial plans.
  • Validate project-related financial transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain financial data accuracy in ERP, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems.

Revenue and Billing Coordination

  • Support project billing, invoicing, revenue milestone tracking, and customer billing schedules.
  • Coordinate with Finance teams to enable timely and accurate customer invoicing.
  • Track accounts receivable status and support collections follow-up where required.
  • Support revenue recognition inputs in line with contractual and finance requirements.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare weekly and monthly project financial reports for delivery and management reviews.
  • Develop cost variance, profitability, margin, and forecast accuracy reports.
  • Prepare financial dashboards using Excel, Power BI, or internal reporting tools.
  • Provide financial insights to support project decisions and corrective actions.

Stakeholder Coordination and Governance

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, PMO, Delivery Leads, Procurement, Finance, and Business teams.
  • Support governance meetings with financial updates, action tracking, and issue escalation inputs.
  • Maintain project financial records, approvals, change logs, and audit evidence.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial documentation.

Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in project financial management, project accounting, PMO finance, or financial coordination.
  • Working knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, billing, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, formulas, and financial trackers.

Other Requirements

  •  B.Com, CA Inter, CMA Inter, or equivalent finance qualification.
  •  PMO, Project Accounting, or Financial Analysis certification.
  • Experience supporting IT services, managed services, infrastructure projects, or enterprise transformation programs.
