HCLTech Role Description Full-Stack Engineering Lead (Sr Solution Director) Technical Delivery, Architecture & Engineering Leadership Hybrid role combining Technical Delivery Manager, Senior Solution Architect and Engineering Lead responsibilities, with hands-on Java full-stack engineering. The role combines the accountabilities of a Technical Delivery Manager, Senior Solution Architect and Engineering Lead, and requires the successful candidate to remain hands-on as a Java full-stack engineer — contributing to production code, reviewing complex changes, and setting the technical bar for the squad. You will act as the day-to-day technical face of HCLTech into the LBG platform leadership team (TPL, EMs, Architecture, Product), owning the shape of the solution, the delivery plan, the engineering practices, and the growth of the pod — while personally leading the hardest technical work. The four hats you'll wear Delivery — plan, budget, risk, supplier and portfolio ownership across a workstream or a portfolio of related workstreams. Architecture — solution design leadership across products in the platform, including forward-look and roadmap shaping within the QBR horizon. Engineering leadership — line management, coaching, workforce shaping, and engineering practice ownership for a pod of ~8–15 engineers. Hands-on engineering — build, review and troubleshoot production-grade Java full-stack systems (Spring Boot back-end, React front-end, GCP). Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Delivery Management Manage and deliver required outcomes for a portfolio of projects or workstreams, reporting into senior HCLTech and LBG stakeholders. Develop and deliver plans, budgets and outcomes for the operational area, including forecast, actuals, run-rate and variance reporting. Uncover emerging issues — surface root causes, related risks, stakeholders and blockers early; propose and drive resolution. Recommend and implement changes to policies, processes, standards and practices that improve the way the pod supports live operations. Own risk management — build and maintain contingency plans for significant delivery and operational risks; maintain the RCSA library entries and associated controls relevant to the area. Manage a portfolio of suppliers and third-party consultants contributing to the workstream — hold them to agreed service levels and escalate as needed. Identify shortcomings in current ways of working and drive improvements through the LBG change management programme. Evaluate complex solution options against business, technical, cost, risk and time criteria; pick and defend the option that best meets platform outcomes. Manage and improve the pod's knowledge management — ADRs, runbooks, onboarding material, decision logs. 2. Senior Solution Architecture Lead the solution architecture for complex products within the platform, ensuring solutions deliver customer value and meet quality, resilience, financial and technical objectives. Establish and maintain a solution architecture forward look aligned to the QBR planning horizon — shaping the technical work needed for teams to deliver the product roadmap, accounting for currency and technical debt. Analyse implementation alternatives and propose innovative, modernised designs using approved architectural building blocks and patterns. Align to LBG architectural standards, principles and patterns; contribute back to the development of local standards; where deviation is necessary, secure sign-off and capture technical debt / non-compliance transparently.
