Senior Solution Architect – Java (OMaaP / Kronos Squad)
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Java Solution Architect to join the OMaaP Belgium Migration Track within the Kronos Squad, supporting ING's New Banking Platform (NBP) transformation program.
This is a strategic architecture role focused on modernizing ING Belgium's Order Manager capabilities by migrating them from legacy platforms to the OMaaP (Order Manager as a Platform) global platform. The architect will drive solution design, define integration patterns, collaborate with multiple engineering teams, and ensure scalable, resilient, and high-performing solutions aligned with ING's target architecture.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end solution architecture for the Belgium migration towards the OMaaP platform.
- Design scalable, secure, and resilient Java-based enterprise solutions aligned with ING's architecture principles.
- Drive migration of legacy Order Manager capabilities to modern cloud-native architectures.
- Define solution blueprints, architecture decisions, API contracts, and integration patterns.
- Design and review event-driven architectures using Kafka and asynchronous messaging.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure architecture standards and best practices are followed.
- Work closely with Business, Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, and Platform teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies during migration activities.
- Guide development teams through architecture reviews, design discussions, and implementation.
- Drive non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, security, observability, and resilience.
- Support production readiness, deployment strategy, and operational excellence.
