Job Summary

  • Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of backup concepts (full, incremental, snapshot, replication)
  • Hands-on experience with Rubrik CDM / Polaris / RSC, Commvault Console, Metallic
  • Experience with:
    • VMware / Hyper-V virtualization
    • Windows & Linux servers
    • Databases (SQL, Oracle)
    • Storage (SAN/NAS, NFS, CIFS)
    • Hybrid Cloud & On Prem Environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Rubrik CDM / Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC), Commvault Console, Metallic platforms
  • Onboard workloads (VMs, databases, NAS, cloud workloads) into backup tools with required policies
  • Manage clusters, SLA domains, retention policies, replication, and archival
  • Monitor daily backup jobs and ensure SLA compliance
  • Troubleshoot failures, performance issues, and restore challenges
  • Perform backup validation and periodic restore testing
  • Monitor backup health, performance, and capacity
  • Resolve incidents and perform root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Optimize policies, storage usage, and backup efficiency
  • Create SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation
  • Follow ITIL processes (incident, change, problem management)
  • Execute backup and restore in a virtualized infrastructure
  • Take snapshot backup in virtualized infrastructure
  • Perform back up task operations on-cloud & on prem infrastructure
  • Backup migration for database backups from different location/Regions.
  • Performance tuning and optimization for Rubrik and storage.
  • Work closely with Storage team for storage related issues.
  • Scripting / Automation of Major/ Complex Tasks ( added advantage)
  • Analyze existing backup environment and provide expert advice for optimizations
  • Understanding functionalities of key Backup components/processes
  • Deduplication/ Encryption / Replication / Reclamation / Migration / Snapshot / Retentions
  • Diagnose backup issues and follow up with root cause analysis.
  • Developing knowledge of data backup and restoration methodologies
  • Basic ability to apply change control procedures
  • Organizational skills with the ability to provide quality at pace
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure
  • Ability to adapt to changing business and technology requirements.
  • Sound problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Skill Requirements

  • Competencies Required:

 

  • Experience Required 5+ Years of Backup Administration experience
  •  Administration experience with Backup software such as: Commvault, Rubrik
  • Experience on Veeam & Cohesity will be added advantage.
