Job Summary
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior DB2 LUW Database Administrator to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert responsible for managing, migrating, and optimizing our enterprise DB2 databases running on IBM AIX and Linux platforms. Managing advanced Replication Sets (Q-Replication / IBM Infosphere Data Stage or CDC) to ensure minimal downtime and zero data loss. Key Responsibilities Migrations & Upgrades: Plan, test, and execute complex database migrations across platforms (e.g., AIX to Linux, on premises to cloud) and version upgrades with minimal business disruption. High Availability & DR: Design, implement, monitor, and maintain DB2 HADR. Replication Management: Configure and manage DB2 Replication Sets, resolving latency issues, capturing data changes, and ensuring data consistency across disparate environments. Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance, optimize complex SQL queries, tune database configurations (db2mtcy, bufferpools, memory management), and resolve bottlenecks. Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain Shell, Python, or Perl scripts to automate routine DBA tasks, backups, monitoring alerts, and migration workflows. Security & Compliance: Implement database security practices, including data encryption (native encryption/SSL), access controls, and auditing. 24/7 Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide high-tier troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for critical production issues. Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise: Replication Architecture: Strong experience setting up and troubleshooting IBM Replication (Q-Replication, SQL Replication, or IBM InfoSphere Data Replication/CDC). HADR Expertise: Proven track record implementing HADR with multiple standby databases, read-on-standby, and clustering software like TSAMP or Pacemaker. Migration Tools: Experience with migration strategies utilizing db2move, db2dump, backup/restore cross-platform, or replication-based near-zero-downtime migrations.
