Job Summary

 Roles, Responsibilities, Skills, and Qualifications Job Overview A VMware Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining virtualized environments using VMware technologies. This role involves configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting VMware products to ensure the stability and efficiency of virtualized systems. The VMware Specialist works closely with IT teams to support various business operations and enhance the organization\'s IT infrastructure. Key Responsibilities 1. Virtualization Management • Design, implement, and manage VMware virtualized environments. • Monitor and optimize the performance of virtual machines (VMs) and virtual infrastructure. • Perform regular backups, snapshots, and disaster recovery tests to ensure data integrity and availability. 2. System Configuration and Maintenance • Install, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere, vCenter Server, and ESXi hosts. • Apply patches, updates, and firmware upgrades to VMware infrastructure regularly. • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and security standards. 3. Troubleshooting and Support • Identify and resolve issues related to VMware virtual environments. • Assist in diagnosing network and storage problems within the virtual infrastructure. • Provide technical support and guidance to IT teams and end-users. 4. Documentation and Reporting • Maintain accurate documentation of VMware configurations, procedures, and incidents. • Generate reports on system performance, capacity, and utilization. • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for VMware management. Skills and Qualifications Technical Skills • VMware Expertise: In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter Server, and ESXi. • Networking: Understanding of virtual networking concepts, including VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls. • Storage: Familiarity with SAN, NAS, and iSCSI storage technologies. • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell for automation tasks. • Operating Systems: Experience with Windows and Linux server environments. Soft Skills • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. • Time Management: Efficiently manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload. Educational Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher certification is highly desirable. • Additional certifications in networking, storage, or security are a plus. Job description 6-8 years of relevant experience in Windows and VMware administration. VMware Administration: •Perform installation, configuration & administration tasks of VMware ESXi platform.
