Job Summary

 L2 SCOM Engineer (System Center Operations Manager) - We are seeking a skilled L2 SCOM Engineer to manage and support enterprise monitoring infrastructure using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). The candidate will be responsible for alert handling, incident resolution, monitoring optimization, and ensuring SLA adherence across IT systems. The candidate will be responsible for alert handling, incident resolution, monitoring optimization, and ensuring SLA adherence across IT systems. Key Responsibilities Monitoring & Alert Management• Monitor infrastructure using SCOM dashboards and alerts.• Handle ACOM / custom alerts, perform triage, and take corrective actions.• Ensure timely escalation for critical alerts and SLA breaches.• Fine-tune alerts to reduce noise and improve monitoring efficiency. Incident & Event Management• Manage incidents triggered by SCOM alerts.• Perform event correlation and root cause analysis (RCA).• Coordinate with L3 teams/vendors for complex issues.• Ensure incidents are resolved within defined SLAs. SCOM Administration• Perform daily sanity checks of SCOM environment.• Maintain monitoring services availability and resolve failures.• Support server onboarding, agent installation, and configuration.• Manage SQL Agnostic Management Packs, overrides, and customizations. Reporting & Documentation• Generate SLA reports and monitoring dashboards.• Create and maintain Knowledge Base (KB) articles for recurring issues.• Provide inputs for operational and governance reporting. Troubleshooting & Optimization• Perform debugging, log analysis, and error handling.• Identify and resolve monitoring gaps.• Improve monitoring accuracy and system performance. Migration & Upgrade Support• Assist in SCOM upgrades, patching, and migrations.• Perform validation checks post-migration/upgrade. Required Skills Technical Skills• Hands-on experience in Microsoft SCOM (2016/2019/2022)• Strong knowledge of Windows Server Administration• Basic knowledge of SQL Server (queries, DB health checks)• Experience with Monitoring services, Event logs & Performance monitoring• Understanding of Management Packs (MPs)Preferred Skills• PowerShell scripting (basic/intermediate)• Experience with ServiceNow or ITSM tools• Exposure to dashboard creation and monitoring reports• Knowledge of automation and alert tuning Soft Skills• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities• Good communication and documentation skills• Ability to work in a 24x7 support environment• Team collaboration and stakeholder management Key Deliverables / KPIs• SLA adherence for incidents and alerts• Reduction in repeated alerts/incidents• Efficient alert handling and response time• Quality and completeness of KB documentation• Monitoring coverage and accuracy Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field• Relevant certifications in Microsoft / Monitoring tools are a plus Nice to Have• Exposure to Azure Monitor / Log Analytics• Knowledge of automation tools (Runbooks)• Experience in enterprise-level production environment\
