Job Summary

Epic Cogito Analyst — Job Description 

Healthcare IT professional specializing in Epic’s Cogito reporting and analytics suite for building, manage, and optimize data models, reports, and dashboards within the Epic EHR ecosystem. This role is critical for translating clinical and operational needs into actionable analytics.

Core Responsibilities

  • Epic System Management & Configuration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, design, and configure Epic EHR functionality and modules, ensuring alignment with clinical workflows and organizational goals.
  • Workflow Optimization: Analyze clinical and administrative workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement Epic configurations that improve efficiency and user experience.
  • Data Modeling & Reporting: Build and maintain data models, create custom reports and dashboards, and validate data integrity across Epic modules.
  • Training & Support: Provide training, documentation, and troubleshooting for Epic Cogito tools and analytic solutions.
  • System Maintenance & Enhancements: Support ongoing upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance of Cogito tools, databases, and configurations.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with Epic support teams, technical teams, and end users to resolve issues and deliver analytics solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Certifications: Active Epic Cogito certification (e.g., Cogito Fundamentals, Caboodle Data Model) and/or related tools such as SlicerDicer, Radar, Reporting Workbench, Clarity, and Healthy Planet/Compass Rose.
  • Experience: Minimum 6+ years in healthcare IT or informatics, with 4+ years of direct Epic experience; strong Epic Cogito reporting experience is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Epic EHR systems, SQL, and analytics tools; familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) for analytics development.
  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare operations, clinical terminology, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CMS)

 

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Analyze and document business requirements in the healthcare sector.
2. Translate business requirements into technical specifications adhering to hl7 standards.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.
4. Lead and participate in meetings to discuss hl7 standards compliance and implementation strategies.
5. Conduct gap analysis to identify areas for improvement in hl7 integration.
6. Develop test cases and conduct testing to ensure hl7 compliance and data integrity.
7. Provide support and guidance to the development team on hl7 standards implementation.

Skill Requirements

1. Proficient in hl7 (health level standard) and its different versions.
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in interpreting business requirements.
3. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams and stakeholders.
4. Knowledge of healthcare it systems and interoperability standards.
5. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Experience with healthcare data exchange protocols and data mapping.
7. Familiarity with ehr (electronic health records) systems and their integration with hl7 standards.

1.Certification in HL7 (Health Level Standard) is preferred.

Minimum Salary (US):  69000

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
