MDG Functional Consultant
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented SAP MDG Functional Consultant to support and enhance SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) across multiple domains, including Material, Customer, Supplier, and Finance master data objects. Apart from supporting business end users with MDG operational issues (tickets/mails), this role will be responsible for gathering business requirements, designing functional solutions, and supporting the ongoing enhancement and maintenance of the SAP MDG landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage with business users to gather and analyze requirements for enhancement requests across Material, Customer, Supplier and Finance master domains in SAP MDG.
Work closely with developers and technical teams to design scalable and efficient functional solutions aligned with business processes and data governance standards.
Provide functional expertise to business and support teams to help them understand MDG system behavior, workflows, business rules, validations, and data governance logic.
Support and mentor the junior team members by offering thought leadership and guidance to resolve functional tickets and service requests.
Perform functional testing for enhancements, defect fixes, and system changes to ensure solution quality and stability.
Create and maintain functional documentation, including functional specifications, test scenarios, and process flows, to support change management and knowledge transfer.
Provide insight into master data replication and integration from MDG to downstream SAP systems and business processes (e.g., order management, procurement, finance).
Ensure MDG solutions comply with organizational data governance policies, compliance standards, and SAP best practices.
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience as an SAP Functional Consultant, with at least 2+ years focused on Material Master.
Strong understanding of MDG data model, governance processes, and lifecycle management.
Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into functional designs and specifications.
Familiarity with BRF+, MDG workflows, and integration with SAP ERP systems (DRF).
Solid understanding of how master data is consumed in downstream SAP processes (e.g., Order to Cash, Warehouse management).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to explain complex system behavior to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
SAP MDG certification is a plus.
