Senior Power BI Developer – Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications
• 5–8 years of commercial experience as a Power BI Developer, preferably within a corporate or enterprise environment
• Proven end-to-end ownership of designing, developing, deploying, and optimizing Power BI solutions, including complex dashboards, reports, and semantic models
• Advanced proficiency in DAX, including complex calculations, performance optimization, and calculation groups
• Deep expertise in semantic modeling, with ability to design and govern enterprise-grade datasets featuring well-structured relationships, hierarchies, row-level security, and reusable measure libraries
• Demonstrated experience in advanced dimensional data modeling and enterprise data warehouse design, with ability to architect performant semantic layers over complex source systems
• Advanced understanding of data visualization and dashboard UX principles, with the ability to influence standards and best practices across teams
• Strong expertise in SQL, with hands-on experience using SSRS, SSIS, and Azure SQL Database
• In-depth understanding of database management systems, OLAP architectures, and ETL processes
• Practical experience with Databricks, including collaboration with data engineering teams and large-scale data processing environments
• Familiarity with cloud-based analytics ecosystems, particularly Microsoft Azure–centric architectures
• Strong capability to translate complex business requirements into scalable BI solutions and act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders
• Proven experience conducting performance testing, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimization strategies across both reports and underlying data models
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives, prioritize effectively, and operate independently
• Extensive experience creating, maintaining, and governing technical documentation aligned with corporate standards
• Solid experience working within corporate governance, security, and compliance frameworks
• Mandatory experience coaching and mentoring junior and mid-level developers, including knowledge sharing, code reviews, and technical guidance
• Strong leadership mindset with the ability to influence technical direction without formal line management responsibility
• Experience with Power BI deployment pipelines, version control (Git), and CI/CD practices for enterprise BI assets
Nice-to-Have / Value-Added
• Awareness of Microsoft Fabric and its evolving role in unified analytics platforms
• Interest in Generative AI tools and their application within business intelligence and analytics workflows
• Familiarity with Copilot for Power BI, AI-assisted analytics, or natural language querying capabilities
• Experience applying prompt engineering techniques to enhance productivity and insights within analytics contexts
