Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Administrator with 6+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering, governing, securing, monitoring, and optimizing the Microsoft Power BI environment across the organization. The role involves managing Power BI Service, Premium capacities, security, data governance, workspace administration, performance monitoring, and enabling self-service BI while ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Power BI Administration & Governance
- Administer and manage the Power BI tenant environment.
- Configure and maintain tenant settings, policies, and governance standards.
- Manage Power BI workspaces, apps, datasets, dataflows, and deployment pipelines.
- Define and enforce Power BI governance frameworks and best practices.
- Establish report certification and endorsement processes.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS).
- Administer Azure Active Directory (AAD) groups and access management.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct periodic audits of user access and platform usage.
- Implement data classification, sensitivity labels, and information protection policies.
Capacity Management & Performance Optimization
- Monitor Power BI Premium/Fabric capacities and resource utilization.
- Optimize dataset refresh schedules and report performance.
- Analyze capacity metrics and recommend scaling strategies.
- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in reports, datasets, and gateways.
Data Gateway Management
- Install, configure, and manage On-Premises Data Gateways.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of gateway infrastructure.
- Monitor gateway health and resolve connectivity issues.
Monitoring & Support
- Monitor Power BI usage, adoption, and system health.
- Create operational dashboards and usage reports.
- Manage incident resolution and root cause analysis.
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 support for Power BI-related issues.
Deployment & DevOps
- Manage Power BI Deployment Pipelines across Development, Test, and Production environments.
- Support CI/CD implementations using Azure DevOps or Git integration.
- Coordinate release management and production deployments.
- Maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with business users, developers, architects, and IT teams.
- Provide technical guidance and governance recommendations.
- Conduct user training and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Drive adoption of Power BI and self-service analytics.
