Job Summary

Main purpose of the job
The Group Manager – Risk & Compliance will be the India Head for the development, implementation, and oversight of the organization’s risk management and compliance framework in India in line with UK regulatory requirements. The role ensures the business operates within legal and ethical boundaries while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities

Key tasks & responsibilities 

1.Risk Management
Develop and maintain the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework
Identify, assess, and monitor key risks (operational, financial, regulatory, reputational)
Lead and drive risk assessments, scenario analysis, and stress testing
Review & maintain risk registers and ensure mitigation plans are in place
Report key risk indicators (KRIs) to senior leadership and board committees

2.Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure adherence to UK regulatory requirements e.g., Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
Review and Oversee compliance monitoring programs and internal audits
Interpret regulatory changes and implement necessary controls
Act as the primary liaison with regulators and external auditors 
Support the Director of Risk & Compliance in the identification and assessment of external threats.

3.Policy & Governance
Review, develop and update compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls
Promote and drive a strong risk-aware culture across the organization
Support governance frameworks and board reporting 
Review completion of regular risk and risk event (Incidents, Breaches and our Crisis Management) reporting to the SMT, Risk Management & Audit Committee (RMAC), the Board and other relevant internal committees.

4.Stakeholder Management
Lead and collaborate with business units, legal, audit, and senior leadership
Provide training and guidance on risk and compliance matters
Influence decision-making through risk-based insights
Provide advice and challenge to the SMT and their direct reports in relation to risk reporting, risk assessment and mitigation.

5.Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a team of risk and compliance professionals in India
Drive performance, development, and succession planning Support the evolution of the risk appetite framework.
Establishing more ‘risk based’ MI for senior management consumption by identifying Key Risk Indicators.
Continuously develop the Risk and Control Frameworks documentation including 
appropriate Registers.

Skill Requirements

Education/ Qualifications/ Training
Educated to degree standard.
Relevant degree or equivalent Professional Risk Qualifications and Certifications (e.g. IRM)

Special Skills/ Knowledge 
Good working knowledge of ERM frameworks.
Good understanding of external ERM standards such as ISO 31000, IRM Risk Management Standard, COSO ERM standard etc.
Good understanding of Consumer Duty, Conduct Risk obligations.
Understanding of Life & Pensions outsourcing business model

Other Requirements

Experience
8-15+ year’s experience in Risk, Compliance, or Audit roles
Risk Management experience gained within Financial Services.
Experience in developing / implementing Risk management related change programmes.
Strong experience in UK regulatory environment
