Job Summary
The Automation/AI System Admin owns the mainframe automation and monitoring stack (AIOps) that keeps the managed environment self-healing, observable, and integrated with enterprise operations tooling. This role covers installation, upgrade, and maintenance of automation and monitoring products (such as SysView, MainView, CA OPS/MVS, and IBM System Automation) and drives integration with modern observability and ITSM platforms like Splunk, Dynatrace, and ServiceNow.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, upgrade, and maintain mainframe automation and monitoring products — BMC MainView (AMI Ops)/SysView, Broadcom CA OPS/MVS, IBM Z System Automation, or equivalent.
- Design and maintain automation policies, message automation tables (MPF/AOF), and event-correlation rules to reduce manual operator intervention.
- Lead integration of mainframe automation and monitoring data with enterprise observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Instana etc. to establish AIOps Observability.
- Establish and maintain integration between mainframe event/incident data and ServiceNow (or equivalent ITSM platform) for automated ticketing and workflow.
- Continuously tune alerting thresholds and automation rules to reduce noise and improve mean-time-to-detect/resolve.
- Partner with z/OS, CICS/MQ, Db2/IMS, Storage, Security, Performance & Capacity, Sysops, Production Control, SCM, and Modernization teams to extend automation coverage across the full technology stack.
- Support automation-related audits, health checks, and disaster recovery exercises.
- Perform Proof-of-concept (POC) on Sandbox LPAR to build & test the use-cases using different vendor products which are found promising and establish the documentation proof of benefits realization after POC completion.
