This role focuses on fiber-optic transmission, DWDM/OTN, MPLS, and Ethernet-based backbone networks, ensuring high availability, scalability, and resilience. The designer collaborates with network architects & operations to plan and implement end-to-end transport solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and plan transport backbone networks using DWDM, OTN, SDH/SONET, and IP/MPLS technologies.
- Develop circuit layouts, network schematics, and path protection strategies to ensure network redundancy and fault tolerance.
- Design long-haul, metro, and access transport networks supporting enterprise and carrier-grade services.
- Work with fiber-optic network planning tools to optimize link budgets, latency, and capacity planning.
- Engineer and provision fiber-optic circuits, leased lines, and backbone links based on capacity requirements.
- Implement Ethernet, MPLS, and optical transport services to support enterprise and wholesale customers.
Skill Requirements
- Expertise in fiber-optic transport technologies (DWDM, OTN, SDH/SONET, MPLS-TP).
- Strong understanding of IP/MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, VPNs, and QoS.
- Experience with fiber path design, link budget analysis, and optical power calculations.
- Hands-on knowledge of network management systems (NMS), EMS, and OSS tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in circuit and network design.
