Job Summary

We have a resource request for resource in France location. The start date for the resource could be mid October. Below are the details –

 

Current Situation

PITAGOR is a 28-year-old legacy application used by TotalEnergies as the backbone of refinery valorisation. It supports planning, scheduling and Mass balance for the 7 site refineries of TotalEnergies

 

Challenges

  • PITAGOR is an on-premises solution hosted on the main network.
  • Over the years, refinery teams have built many Excel/VBA tools directly connected to the PITAGOR database.
  • Estimated volume: ~250 Excel files across seven refineries.
  • The exact inventory, complexity, ownership, and transformation effort are currently unknown.
  • These files are business-critical and widely used by refinery engineers.

Objective of the Requested Resource

The resource should support an assessment and transformation initiative focused on the Excel ecosystem surrounding PITAGOR.

Phase 1: Discovery & Assessment

  • Identify and collect existing Excel files from refinery sites.
  • Engage with business users and site contacts.
  • Analyze Excel/VBA solutions and database dependencies.
  • Document functionality, usage, complexity, and business criticality.
  • Assess compatibility with the future Archimed solution.
  • Estimate transformation effort and migration approach.

Phase 2: Transformation

  • Support redesign and modernization of the Excel tools.
  • Adapt Excel files to work with Archimed.
  • Identify opportunities to migrate reporting use cases to Power BI where appropriate.
  • Continue implementation activities after the assessment phase to ensure knowledge continuity.

Location & Travel Expectations

The candidate should ideally be France-based, as site visits may be required.

Potential refinery locations include:

  • France (majority of sites)
  • Belgium
  • Germany
  • Limited likelihood of travel to the US site

Experience: 5-10 years

  • Analyze SQL/database dependencies.
  • Engage refinery stakeholders in French and English.
  • Define migration and modernization strategy.
  • Implement transformation activities during the Archimed rollout.
  • Support Power BI migration opportunities where relevant.
