Project Manager - Scrum Master
India
Job Description
Project Manager - Scrum Master
Bengaluru, Karnataka

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master who combines strong Agile delivery expertise with the operational rigor required to support an enterprise Design System in a regulated environment.

The Scrum Master serves as the operational anchor for the team, driving delivery predictability, effective capacity planning, disciplined Agile execution, and continuous improvement. This role facilitates collaboration across Product, UX/UI Design, Architecture, Engineering, and QA, ensuring design and development dependencies are addressed early and teams are positioned to deliver against realistic sprint and release commitments.

You will proactively remove impediments, manage dependencies, maintain delivery visibility, and protect the team’s focus while fostering accountability and ownership. Success means creating a high-performing operating rhythm where delivery is transparent, predictable, and aligned with quality and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Facilitation and Team Effectiveness

· Scrum Ceremony Facilitation: Facilitate Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, ensuring each ceremony is efficient, focused, and actionable.

· Cross-Functional Alignment: Facilitate collaboration among Product Owners, Product Managers, UX/UI designers, architects, developers, and QA teams throughout the design, development, testing, and release lifecycle.

· Design-to-Development Coordination: Coordinate UX/UI design activities with engineering, testing, and release cycles. Ensure design dependencies, design reviews, and design-to-development handoffs are addressed before development begins.

· Cross-Team Coordination: Represent team in Scrum of Scrums and other cross-team forums to manage dependencies, surface delivery risks, and coordinate with downstream product teams and the broader Release Train.

· Team Focus: Protect the team from unnecessary distractions, scope disruption, and organizational noise while maintaining appropriate stakeholder transparency.

· Impediment Management: Identify blockers and drive them to resolution by engaging the appropriate owners, coordinating dependencies, escalating when necessary, and maintaining visibility through closure.

· Agile Coaching: Coach team members, Product Owners, and Product Managers on Scrum and Agile practices, identify anti-patterns, and drive measurable continuous improvement.

2. Process Discipline and Rally Management

· Capacity Planning: Own forward-looking capacity planning, accounting for holidays, planned time off, meeting overhead, and known constraints so sprint commitments reflect realistic availability.

· Sprint Planning: Partner with Product Owners to maintain a prioritized, clearly defined, estimated, and delivery-ready backlog in Rally. Facilitate refinement so upcoming work meets the Definition of Ready before Sprint Planning. Reinforce agreed readiness and completion standards so work enters a sprint ready for execution and meets established quality expectations before completion.

· Rally Hygiene: Ensure User Stories, Defects, and Tasks contain the required details, estimates, acceptance criteria, ownership, dependencies, and timely status updates.

· Metrics and Predictability: Track and communicate Velocity, Say/Do Ratio, Cycle Time, burn-down/burn-up, and delivery predictability. Use data to support forecasting and continuous improvement.

· Delivery Visibility: Maintain transparent visibility into sprint progress, risks, blockers, dependencies, commitments, and delivery health through Rally dashboards and established delivery-management mechanisms.

3. Release and Program Coordination

· Release Planning: Coordinate sprint execution with release plans, ensuring dependencies, risks, quality activities, and delivery commitments are understood and surfaced early.

· PI Planning: Conduct PI Planning and related program-level planning, including dependency mapping, capacity considerations, risk identification, and cross-team alignment.

· Dependency and Risk Management: Identify cross-team and cross-functional dependencies and facilitate resolution to prevent downstream delivery impact.

· Continuous Improvement: Use retrospectives, delivery metrics, and recurring delivery issues to identify systemic process improvements.

4. Role Clarity and Team Ownership

· Servant Leadership: Enable the team through facilitation, coaching, transparency, and influence rather than command-and-control management.

· Team Accountability: Promote strong team ownership of sprint commitments, quality, and delivery outcomes.

Skill Requirements

Required

· 10+ years of experience in Agile software or digital-product delivery, including at least 7 years as a dedicated Scrum Master.

· Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise software or platform products within large, global, matrixed organizations.

· Experience supporting cross-functional UI/UX, Design System, web, mobile, or digital-product development teams, including coordination between design and engineering.

· Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry where documentation, quality processes, and compliance requirements are integral to software delivery.

· Strong application of Scrum and Agile principles, roles, artifacts, ceremonies, backlog management, capacity planning, and delivery metrics.

· Strong hands-on proficiency with Rally (CA Agile Central) or a comparable enterprise Agile-management platform, including backlog management, sprint planning, dependency tracking, dashboards, and reporting.

· Strong understanding of software development and release lifecycles, including development, testing, quality validation, and release readiness.

· Strong facilitation, communication, stakeholder-management, and conflict-resolution skills.

· Exposure to SAFe, PI Planning, and multi-team Agile programs.

· Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification.

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice-to-have

· Understanding of the UX lifecycle, including user research, wireframes, prototypes, design reviews, accessibility considerations, and design-to-development handoffs.

· Familiarity with Figma or a similar collaborative design platform.

· Exposure to Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design, or Lean UX.

· Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and release-management practices.

Work Schedule

This role is based in Bangalore, India and follows a hybrid working model requiring three days per week in the office.

The role reports to leadership in the United States (Central Time) and requires flexibility to provide meaningful overlap with US-based leadership and stakeholders for planning, reviews, dependency management, and other critical collaboration.
