Job Summary

Job Description: BMO’s DB Support team is seeking an experienced AI/Automation Engineer to introduce AI-driven capabilities into an already mature, automation-enabled database support function. The team has strong automation in place but currently lacks AI expertise — this role is meant to close that gap and bring fresh, practical AI use cases to operational DB support, not just execute pre-defined tasks. • Identify and design AI/automation use cases applicable to DB support and operations (e.g., anomaly detection, intelligent alerting, query optimization assistance, automated troubleshooting/triage) • Work closely with the existing DBA/support team to understand current workflows and pain points, and translate those into AI-enabled solutions • Build, prototype, and iterate on AI tools/models with minimal initial scoping — comfortable bringing ideas to the table rather than waiting for detailed specs • Collaborate on-site with the BMO team lead for regular progress check-ins and fast turnaround on questions/blockers • Bring outside perspective — prior experience applying AI in banking, financial services, or industrial/manufacturing support environments is a strong plus • Solid working knowledge of databases (DBA background, DB support experience, or strong technical exposure to DB operations) • Demonstrable, hands-on AI/ML or AI-automation project experience — genuine applied experience, not just familiarity with AI tools • Strong communicator, comfortable working independently and proposing solutions proactively • On-site availability (non-negotiable per client preference — close collaboration required)
