Job Summary
L3 EMC Dell Storage Engineer to provide advanced support, administration, and architecture-level expertise for enterprise storage environments. The role involves managing Dell EMC storage platforms, handling complex incidents and problem management activities, leading storage infrastructure projects, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, disaster recovery readiness, and mentoring L1/L2 teams. The engineer will serve as the highest technical escalation point for storage-related issues and collaborate with infrastructure, virtualization, backup, and application teams.
Key Responsibilities
Storage Administration & Support Administer and support Dell EMC storage platforms including PowerMax, VMAX, Unity, Unity XT, VNX, PowerStore, Isilon/PowerScale, and XtremIO. Perform storage provisioning, LUN masking, zoning, replication configuration, and capacity management. Ensure storage availability, reliability, and optimal performance across enterprise environments. Lead storage upgrades, migrations, and hardware refresh activities. Incident & Problem Management Act as L3 escalation point for critical storage incidents and service disruptions. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes for recurring issues. Engage Dell EMC support for complex hardware and software issues. Support major incident management and provide technical leadership during outage situations. Performance & Capacity Management Analyze storage performance and identify bottlenecks. Perform tuning and optimization of SAN and NAS environments. Forecast storage growth trends and recommend capacity upgrades. Monitor storage utilization and ensure adherence to performance SLAs. Data Protection & Disaster Recovery Manage storage replication technologies such as: SRDF RecoverPoint Unity Replication Snapshots and Clones Support disaster recovery planning, DR drills, and business continuity initiatives. Coordinate with backup teams to ensure data protection requirements are met. SAN Infrastructure Management Configure and troubleshoot SAN connectivity issues. Manage Fibre Channel switches including Brocade and Cisco MDS environments. Perform zoning, multipathing, and host connectivity troubleshooting. Ensure storage connectivity for VMware, Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms. Project & Implementation Activities Lead storage deployment and migration projects. Develop architecture recommendations for new storage solutions. Participate in infrastructure transformation and cloud integration projects. Provide technical guidance for storage modernization initiatives. Documentation & Governance Create and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, and operational documentation. Support audit, compliance, and governance activities. Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives. Team Leadership Mentor and provide technical guidance to L1/L2 engineers. Review technical changes and implementation plans. Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and technical trainings.
