Job Summary
Total Experience - A minimum of 10 to 12 years of proven experience in database engineering and migrations, including designing, modernizing, and operating Oracle database platforms on AWS (RDS/EC2-hosted databases) with strong focus on performance, security, HA/DR, and automation. We are seeking a skilled Cloud/Database Engineer with strong hands-on experience migrating Oracle workloads to AWS. The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end assessment, schema and code remediation (as needed), data replication/CDC, cutover planning, and post-migration optimization for Oracle environments moving to Amazon RDS for Oracle or Oracle on Amazon EC2, ensuring secure and low-downtime transitions.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan and execute migrations of Oracle databases from on-premises, hosted environments, and engineered systems (as applicable) to AWS (Amazon RDS for Oracle and/or Oracle on Amazon EC2).
· Use AWS migration services and Oracle utilities (e.g., AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) when required for conversions, Oracle Data Pump, RMAN, and CDC/replication approaches where applicable) plus scripting/automation to support large-scale, repeatable migrations.
· Design migration runbooks (discovery/assessment, PoC, replication/CDC, cutover, rollback) including data validation and integrity checks, Oracle feature compatibility review (e.g., options/packs), encryption considerations (e.g., TDE), and minimal downtime execution.
· Perform Oracle performance tuning and operational readiness on AWS (parameter tuning, indexing, AWR/ASH analysis, backup/restore strategy, maintenance automation, and monitoring using CloudWatch and Oracle tooling).

Other Requirements
Qualifications:
· 5+ years of hands-on AWS database migration experience, with primary focus on migrating Oracle databases to AWS.
· Strong Oracle DBA experience (installation/configuration, security, backup/restore with RMAN, Data Guard concepts, patching/upgrades, troubleshooting and performance tuning).
· Working knowledge of AWS database and migration services (Amazon RDS for Oracle, Oracle on EC2, DMS, SCT where applicable) and fundamentals of VPC, security groups, KMS encryption, and IAM.
· AWS Certification preferred (e.g., AWS Certified Database 01 Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect) and/or Oracle certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
