Controls Systems Engineer – Power Generation
Location
Houston, TX
Role Overview
We are seeking a Controls Systems Engineer with hands on PLC programming experience to support the development, integration, and testing of industrial power generation control systems. This role focuses on implementing and validating control logic across engine/ turbine, alternator, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), auxiliary (pumps/fans driven by VFD), and supervisory interfaces, working closely with system architects and software teams.

Key Responsibilities
•    Program, test, and debug control logic on multiple PLC platforms.
•    Implement subsystem interfaces and data exchange with supervisory control systems.
•    Develop logic for sequencing, interlocks, alarms, and fault handling.
•    Implement fail safe behavior, including communication loss detection.
•    Support HMI integration through PLC tags, diagnostics, and control logic.
•    Participate in system integration, FAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or related engineering field.
•    5+ years of industrial PLC programming experience.
•    Experience with multiple PLC platforms and industrial control systems.
•    Strong understanding of sequencing, state based control, and fault handling.

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience with power generation systems or rotating equipment controls.
•    Exposure to alternator protection/synchronization and SCR systems.
•    Experience with Simulink PLC Coder
•    Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT) and field commissioning experience.

1. To identify and effectively address critical issues through in-depth analysis, driving resolution and optimizing performance.
2. To validate, analyze, and interpret results, crafting comprehensive reports and presenting findings to stakeholders, influencing key decisions and driving project progress.
3. To prepare the model for the analysis and build technical model.
4. to continuously monitor data accuracy and completeness throughout the analysis pipeline, preventing errors and delivering reliable insights for downstream decision-making.
5. To gather information and to prepare the methodology for the analysis

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
