Engineering Resource Planning Analyst – Contract Role
Role:
An engineering resource planning analyst forecasts engineering workloads and allocates available engineering talent (people, time) to projects and tasks to meet organizational demands. Key responsibilities include developing operational plans, managing resource capacity, improving data quality for resource allocation, collaborating with project teams, and ensuring the efficient utilization of engineering staff to achieve project goals and maintain budget control.
Key Responsibilities
• Workload Forecasting:
Predicting future demand for engineering resources based on project pipelines and strategic objectives.
• Capacity Planning:
Analysing team capacity and skill sets to determine if sufficient resources are available or if new hires or external support are needed.
• Resource Allocation:
Assigning engineers to projects, ensuring skills and availability align with task requirements.
• Operational Planning:
Developing and supporting plans for staff, budgets, and other resources necessary for project execution.
• Collaboration:
Working closely with project managers, department heads, and engineering teams to understand resource needs and resolve allocation issues.
• Performance Monitoring:
Tracking resource utilization, costs, and project delivery to identify areas for improvement.
• Data Management:
Maintaining accurate data on resource availability and project requirements to ensure data quality and consistent decision-making.

About the role
The Resource Planning Analyst role is focused on building resource plans the project engineering team. The team is responsible to ensure all technical aspects of the customers requirements are meet in a timely manner.
• Creation of resource planning models to convert demand into accurate resource requirement.
• Maintaining and updating resource supply forecasts, including attrition and shrinkages, to ensure resource provision is aligned to requirement.
• Production of detailed, interval level, resource plans delivered 1-2 weeks in advance.
• Identification of gaps and surpluses in resource provision in our plans, to facilitate remedy and corrective action.
• Feedback into longer range capacity planning.
• Stakeholder management with all operational leaders and teams.
