The SAP MDG Consultant-L2 is responsible for providing functional and operational support for SAP Master Data Governance processes across the enterprise landscape. The role supports business users, resolves incidents and service requests, assists with data governance activities, and ensures the quality and integrity of master data across SAP systems.

 

The consultant works closely with business data stewards, functional teams, and the SAP MDG L3 Lead to support governance processes, maintain master data quality, and ensure compliance with enterprise data standards.

Key Responsibilities

Incident & Service Request Management

• Provide L2 support for SAP MDG incidents, service requests, and user inquiries.
• Analyze and resolve master data workflow and governance issues.
• Monitor ticket queues and ensure SLA compliance.
• Escalate complex issues to L3 support teams where required.
• Provide regular status updates to users and stakeholders.

Workflow & Data Validation Support

• Support MDG workflow execution and issue resolution.
• Validate submitted master data requests.
• Assist users with governance approvals and business rules.
• Monitor pending workflows and approval bottlenecks.
• Support data quality validation activities.

Data Governance & Quality Management

• Assist in maintaining data governance standards.
• Monitor and report data quality issues.
• Support duplicate identification and remediation activities.
• Participate in data cleansing initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise master data policies and controls.

Testing & Change Support

• Support functional testing of MDG enhancements and fixes.
• Execute test scripts and document results.
• Participate in SIT, UAT, and regression testing.
• Perform production validation following deployments.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

• Maintain knowledge articles and support documentation.
• Update SOPs, process guides, workflow documentation, and known error records.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document recurring issues and recommended resolutions

Experience & Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of SAP MDG, Master Data, or SAP Functional Support experience.
• Experience supporting master data governance processes in an AMS environment.
• Understanding of Business Partner, Customer, Vendor, Material, and Financial master data concepts.
• Experience working within ITIL-based support organizations.
• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA environments is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field.
