Job Summary

Position: Costing engineer

Responsible for should costing using aPriori for manufactured (Casting, forging, welded structural) components.

 

Skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 5years of work experience in Automotive/ Off-Highway/ Construction/ Agriculture industry or with a Supplier providing commodities to these industries (Casting, Forging, Machining, Welded Structure)
  • 4+ years of experience in aPriori and windchill tools.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Perform should-cost modelling to estimate product costs and identify potential design modifications for cost reduction.
  • Analyse various cost elements such as (Material, Scrap Rate, Labor, Setup, Overheads, and SG&A)
  • Develop should-costing models and process maps for key commodities including Casting, Forging, machining, wire harness and Welded Structures.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the relationship between manufacturing processes/operations, geometric features, cycle time, and cost impact.
  • Maintain good awareness of current market rates for materials and manufacturing equipment/machines.
  • Identify cost trends to support current and future product design.
  • Perform detailed Excel-based cost and data analysis.
  • Read and interpret 2D/3D drawings and GD&T requirements to determine manufacturing operations required to produce parts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Estimate costs associated with components to support design decisions and supplier negotiations.
2. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness of components.
3. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
5. Manage the performance and development of suppliers to meet quality and delivery requirements.

Skill Requirements

1. Proficiency in component cost estimation techniques and tools.
2. Strong negotiation and collaboration skills with suppliers.
3. Experience in supplier development and management practices.
4. Knowledge of industry best practices related to component design and cost optimization.
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
