Role Overview
AkzoNobel is looking for a highly creative and experienced Senior UI Designer to lead user interface design initiatives for its global digital platforms, including web, eCommerce, customer portals, and Content Management System (CMS)-driven applications. The role will support AkzoNobel's digital transformation programs built on Headless CMS, Azure, React/Next.js, and modern design systems. The designer will collaborate closely with UX specialists, Product Owners, Architects, Front-end Leads, and Business Analysts to create intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging digital experiences.

Design intuitive, responsive, and visually compelling user interfaces for web and mobile applications.
Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
Define and maintain enterprise Design System guidelines and reusable UI component libraries.
Collaborate with UX teams to translate user journeys and research insights into engaging interfaces.
Partner with Front-end Leads and Architects to ensure design feasibility and implementation quality.
Ensure consistency across digital products, customer portals, and eCommerce platforms.
Champion accessibility (WCAG), usability, and responsive design standards.
Participate in design reviews, stakeholder workshops, and product discovery sessions.
Work closely with CMS and Content teams to optimize content presentation and user engagement.
Support A/B testing, design validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams.

Responsibilities in Design Lifecycle

Conduct stakeholder workshops to gather design requirements.
Create user flows, journey maps, and interaction models.
Develop reusable design components and style guides.
Collaborate with developers during implementation.
Review delivered screens for visual and usability compliance.

Desired Candidate Profile

8–12 years of experience in UI Design for enterprise web applications.
Strong portfolio showcasing responsive web and mobile design projects.
Expertise in Figma and modern design systems.
Proven experience working with global stakeholders.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Visual Communication, Computer Science, or related field.
