Job Summary

SAP Backend Developer (ABAP) to join India‑based SAP Test Automation & Process Innovation team.

This role supports backend development and form modernization for SAP S/4HANA, contributes to the replacement of legacy SAPscript/SmartForms, supports enhancements and issue resolution, and assists AMS activities in an international environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing backend logic using ABAP, ABAP OO and CDS Views 
• Support the replacement, development and maintenance of SAPscript, SmartForms and Adobe Forms 
• Contribute to print program adjustments, data retrieval logic and form layout changes 
• Support the creation and testing of OData services under guidance 
• Assist in L2/L3 AMS tasks including issue analysis, debugging and defect fixing 
• Prepare basic technical documentation, test scripts and change control evidence 
• Collaborate with senior developers, module teams and frontend developers 
• Support validation and documentation requirements in GxP environments 
• Assist in SAP rollouts, upgrades and continuous improvement activities 
• Follow Clean‑Core guidelines and development best practices 
• Learn SAP integration frameworks (Gateway, IDoc, RFC) and modern extensibility approaches 
• Participate in agile and classic AMS project tasks

Skill Requirements

• > 3 years of experience in SAP backend development, incl. good knowledge in ABAP, ABAP OO, CDS Views, OData, BAdIs, enhancements
• First experience with SAPscript, SmartForms and Adobe Forms is desirable 
• Willingness to learn form modernization and output management 
• Basic debugging and problem‑solving skills 
• Understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture and extensibility concepts 
• Experience or interest in working in validated (GxP) environments is desirable
• Ability to create documentation and test artifacts 
• Strong willingness to learn, take guidance and grow into advanced backend topics 
• Good understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) processes based on ITIL
• Strong collaboration skills with application teams and service providers
• Proactive and structured working style with high attention to quality, security and compliance
• Very good written and spoken English skills; German language skills are an advantage
• Experience in agile and classical project delivery models
• Team player with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and disciplines
• Ability to quickly understand complex processes and issues, with strong communication skills
