Job Summary

Skill Requirements

Must-have Skills

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, another technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience with Big Data and analytics solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP technologies, including BigQuery, Airflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Python, and shell scripting.
  • Strong experience designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines for large-scale data processing, transformation, and analysis using Big Data and GCP technologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL and database systems, including designing and optimizing data models for performance and scalability.
  • Experience building event-processing pipelines with Kafka or GCP Pub/Sub.
  • Knowledge of distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills and knowledge of design patterns.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated test frameworks, and source-code management tools such as XLR, Jenkins, and Git.
  • Knowledge and experience with configuration-management tools such as GitHub.
  • Ability to analyze complex data-engineering problems, propose effective solutions, and implement them effectively.
  • Ability and willingness to learn, adopt, and build solutions using established enterprise frameworks for Big Data.
  • Proactive mindset for identifying continuous-improvement opportunities.
  • Effective communication with product and cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and leverage them to their optimal potential.
  • Understanding of SDLC methodologies and familiarity with Agile and Scrum ceremonies.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Design and development experience with Airflow, Pub/Sub, Kafka, Git, and Jenkins.
  • GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
