Job Summary

Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Data Modelling

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Analyse existing Oracle data structures and define target PostgreSQL data models.
  • Produce source-to-target mappings and transformation specifications.
  • Support data lineage, reconciliation, and data quality activities.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise data standards and architectural principles.

Data Migration Strategy

  • Execute end-to-end Oracle to PostgreSQL migration activities.
  • Perform schema analysis, data mapping, conversion, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Identify and resolve migration performance and data integrity issues.
  • Support migration planning, dress rehearsals, cutover execution, and post-migration stabilisation.
  • Develop automation for migration validation and reconciliation processes.

Data Engineering & ETL

  • Design and develop ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
  • Build scalable data processing solutions using AWS services.
  • Implement monitoring, controls, and data quality checks.
  • Support CI/CD and deployment automation for data engineering solutions.
  • Optimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, and resilience.

AWS Platform Delivery

  • Deliver solutions leveraging AWS technologies including:
    • RDS PostgreSQL
    • S3
    • AWS Glue
    • Lambda
    • Redshift
    • Athena
  • Support performance tuning and operational readiness of data platforms.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Support creation of reporting-ready datasets and data marts.
  • Collaborate with reporting teams to ensure consistency and usability of data.
  • Support Power BI, QuickSight, or equivalent reporting solutions.

Skill Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 12-15 years of experience in Data Engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience in enterprise data modelling.
  • Proven delivery experience on large-scale Oracle to PostgreSQL migration programmes.
  • Strong SQL and database performance tuning expertise.
  • Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.
  • Strong AWS data platform experience.
  • Experience with data validation, reconciliation, and migration testing.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders.
