Job Summary
Product Engineer – Telco Fraud Prevention & Identity Platform
Role Overview
As the Principal Product Engineer for our Fraud Prevention Platform, you will lead the technical vision for our most critical security initiative. You will design and architect high-throughput, ultra-low-latency API products that leverage raw 4G/5G core network telemetry to detect and prevent identity fraud, account takeovers, and financial crimes in real time.
You will bridge the gap between telecom core infrastructure and the digital banking/fintech ecosystem, transforming network signals into real-time trust scores and authentication triggers that protect millions of users.
What You’ll Do (Strategic Responsibilities)
- Architect Real-Time Fraud APIs: Own the technical architecture of our fraud prevention microservices. Translate complex 4G/5G network events (e.g., SIM swapping, instant location validation, call forwarding status) into highly performant, developer-friendly API products.
- Drive CAMARA Anti-Fraud Standards: Act as the subject matter expert on CAMARA Alliance fraud and identity APIs (such as SIM Swap, Number Verification, and Device Location). Ensure our platform is perfectly federated to work seamlessly across global telecom carriers.
- Engineer for Sub-Millisecond Latency: Fraud prevention happens mid-transaction. You will design high-concurrency, low-latency data and caching strategies using MongoDB and Couchbase to evaluate network data and session states in milliseconds.
- Bulletproof Identity & Security Architecture: Lead the implementation of high-security authorization frameworks (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT) customized for sensitive fraud data. Ensure strict adherence to privacy regularities, data encryption standards, and secure deployment models.
- Enforce DevSecOps & API Guardrails: Mitigate reverse-engineering and API abuse by integrating advanced automated security scanning (e.g., 42Crunch) into the pipeline. Ensure our external endpoints are completely hardened against malicious actors.
- Technical Governance & Mentorship: Define the patterns for Java/Spring Boot microservices optimized for fraud-detection telemetry. Mentor and upskill engineering teams to think like security researchers and product owners simultaneously.
What You Bring (Qualifications & Expertise)
- Experience: 15+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of architecting massive-scale backend systems, ideally within fraud prevention, cybersecurity, risk-engine development, or identity verification.
- Telecom & 4G/5G Core Telemetry: Deep expertise in 4G/5G Core Networks and signal processing. You understand how to tap into network elements to extract real-time identity and device status safely.
- Java Backend Expertise: Master-level capability in Java (8 through modern versions) and Spring Boot / Spring Security for building bulletproof, distributed microservices.
- Fraud Standards & Identity Ecosystem: Absolute mastery of CAMARA Standards, OpenAPI Specs, and identity protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT). You know how to safely handle and transmit PII (Personally Identifiable Information) and risk data.
- High-Velocity Data Architecture: Advanced experience with distributed databases and high-speed caching engines. Expert knowledge of MongoDB for persistent audit logs and Couchbase for instantaneous session/state evaluation.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Strategy: Strong experience executing containerized strategies (Docker/Kubernetes) on AWS, ensuring high availability and zero-downtime deployments for critical security infrastructure
