The architect will be responsible for driving architecture design from day one, covering both SAP core and all surrounding satellite systems The role requires a hands-on, execution-driven leader who can proactively define architecture options and patterns, rather than relying on extended alignment cycles or theoretical discussions. The expectation is to design first, then align with SAP, Microsoft, and internal stakeholders. We are effectively looking for a profile who can operate across business, application, data, and infrastructure layers, and accelerate the program by producing clear, structured, and actionable architecture deliverables. Requirements • 12+ years of SAP experience with strong expertise in SAP ECC and S/4HANA • Proven experience in at least 2 full-cycle S/4HANA transformation programs (large-scale, multi-country preferred) • Strong experience defining end-to-end enterprise architecture, including: o Application architecture o Integration architecture o Data architecture and consumption models o Infrastructure and connectivity models • Deep expertise in: o Integration patterns (APIs, middleware, event-driven architecture) o Extensibility approaches (clean core, side-by-side, SAP BTP) • Solid experience with cloud and hybrid architectures, including: o SAP on hyperscalers (preferably Microsoft Azure, also Google Cloud is a plus) o Hybrid landscapes (SAP + non-SAP ecosystems) • Hands-on experience with both: o RISE with SAP (managed SaaS model) o Non-RISE / self-managed SAP deployments (on-premise or hyperscaler) • Experience defining architecture principles, standards, and governance frameworks • Proven ability to work with SAP, Microsoft, and system integrators in complex programs • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills at executive level Responsibilities • Define and document target architecture scenarios for SAP S/4HANA and all satellite systems • Establish and document: o Architecture principles and design premises o Integration patterns (SAP ↔ external systems) o Data consumption and analytics patterns • Lead architecture definition efforts proactively, accelerating decisions and avoiding delays from excessive consensus cycles • Design architecture covering: o SAP core (S/4HANA) o Integration layer o Data platforms o Infrastructure and connectivity • Evaluate and define RISE vs non-RISE scenarios, including trade-offs and implications • Collaborate closely with SAP and Microsoft to validate and refine architecture proposals • Produce key deliverables: o Architecture diagrams (current and target state) o Architecture patterns and standards o Decision frameworks and trade-off analysis • Identify risks, dependencies, and gaps in the architecture landscape • Support internal alignment after initial architecture proposals are defined • Mentor internal teams and help strengthen architecture capabilities • Provide input on role adjustments or capability gaps within the current team Additional Comments • This is a central and critical role for the success of the transformation; the capability is currently not sufficiently covered. • The organization must lead architecture definition interna
