Project Manager – Underwriting Transformation

Prudential’s purpose is to be partners for every life and protectors for every future. Our purpose encourages everything we do by creating a culture in which diversity is celebrated and inclusion assured, for our people, customers, and partners. We provide a platform for our people to do their best work and make an impact to the business, and we support our people’s career ambitions. We pledge to make Prudential a place where you can Connect, Grow, and Succeed.

We are embarking on an ambitious, AI-led Underwriting Transformation journey across our Local Business Units (LBUs) in Asia and Africa. Currently at a highly strategic, initial phase, we are looking for a Project Manager to orchestrate and drive this critical transformation program, with a strong initial focus on the Malaysia market.

Reporting directly to the Regional NBUW Program Lead, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the transformation blueprint. You will manage complex project lifecycles, cross-functional dependencies, and ensure that our vision of a modernized, AI-driven underwriting operation is successfully executed on time and within budget

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Project Delivery: Manage the full project lifecycle from "project in to project out" (initiation, blueprint design, execution, to successful close-out and handover to BAU).
  • Program Integration & Dependency Management: Expertly map and manage complex project inputs and outputs. Ensure seamless integration and alignment across multiple workstreams (Tech, Data, Change Management, and Local Business Units).
  • Transformation Governance & Planning: Develop robust end-to-end milestone plans aligned with funding cycles and agile release timelines. Oversee project governance, risk mitigation, and issue resolution.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Act as the primary point of contact for senior executives, market leaders, and external fintech/tech vendors. Drive alignment between global objectives and local market capabilities.
  • Budget & ROI Management: Support strategic budget planning and track multi-million-dollar program investments, ensuring strong return on investment (ROI) and that measurable business outcomes are achieved

Skill Requirements

  • Experience: 10+ years of proven Project Management experience within the Financial Services sector, with a strong preference for Life Insurance.
  • Transformation Track Record: Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex transformation or digitalization programs from ground zero.
  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of Life Insurance operations; familiarity with New Business Underwriting (NBUW), AI-led transformation, or automated rule engines is highly advantageous.
  • Methodology Mastery: Deep expertise in end-to-end project management frameworks (both Agile and Waterfall). Strong capability in managing intricate project scopes, inputs, and deliverables.
  • Regional Exposure: Experience working on regional projects with exposure to Southeast Asia (SEA) markets, particularly Malaysia, is highly preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive stakeholder management skills. Ability to thrive in a high-impact, dynamic environment
