Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer with deep experience building and supporting enterprise ecommerce applications, including hands-on development within Salesforce B2C Commerce (SFCC).
This role requires strong knowledge of the SFCC backend platform, however is not limited to SFCC development. The ideal candidate is a senior backend engineer who understands ecommerce architecture, integrations, APIs, payments, order processing, and distributed systems and can apply those skills both within and outside the commerce platform.
Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend functionality supporting complex ecommerce experiences.

·       Build and extend SFCC/SFRA cartridges, controllers, models, middleware, hooks, and other server-side components.

·       Develop integrations using the SFCC Services Framework, including authentication, service profiles, credentials, error handling, logging, and resiliency.

·       Develop and maintain scheduled jobs and job steps for batch processing, integrations, order processing, data synchronization, and operational workflows.

·       Work with OCAPI and SCAPI for commerce APIs, integrations, and headless/composable use cases.

·       Implement and support ecommerce functionality across:

o   Basket and checkout

o   Payments and payment instruments

o   Orders and order export

o   Customers and authentication

o   Products, catalogs, and inventory

o   Pricing, promotions, coupons, and source codes

·       Develop and maintain integrations with payment providers, OMS, CRM, tax, fulfillment, marketing, fraud, and other enterprise platforms.

·       Use SFCC custom objects, custom attributes, site preferences, metadata, and system objects appropriately when designing platform solutions.

·       Understand and work with Business Manager configuration, including sites, catalogs, price books, promotions, jobs, services, content, and custom preferences.

·       Troubleshoot complex issues using SFCC logs, request flows, service logs, job execution results, and production diagnostic information.

·       Identify and address SFCC-specific concerns such as caching, transaction handling, performance, API limits, and platform constraints.

·       Design REST APIs and asynchronous integrations using technologies such as JSON, OAuth, JWT, webhooks, queues, and event-driven patterns.

·       Participate in code reviews and enforce engineering standards around maintainability, security, performance, and testing.

·       Work closely with architects, frontend engineers, DevOps, QA, product teams, and external integration partners.

·       Mentor developers and provide technical guidance on both SFCC and general backend engineering practices.

Skill Requirements

·       5+ years of backend software development experience, including significant enterprise ecommerce experience.

·       Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce B2C Commerce / Demandware.

·       Strong knowledge of SFRA architecture and cartridge development.

·       Experience with SFCC server-side JavaScript, controllers, middleware, hooks, models, and platform APIs.

·       Experience building integrations with the SFCC Services Framework.

·       Experience developing and supporting SFCC jobs and batch-processing workflows.

·       Working knowledge of OCAPI and/or SCAPI.

·       Strong understanding of SFCC concepts including:

o   Catalogs and categories

o   Products and inventory

o   Price books

o   Promotions and campaigns

o   Customers

o   Baskets

o   Orders

o   Payment instruments

·       Experience implementing or supporting complex checkout and payment integrations.

·       Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication, integration patterns, and distributed systems.

·       Strong JavaScript development skills and experience with modern backend engineering practices.

·       Strong debugging and production support skills across applications and third-party integrations.

·       Experience with Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and structured release processes.

Other Requirements

  Salesforce Order Management or other enterprise OMS platforms.

·       Stripe, Adyen, PayPal, or comparable payment platforms.

·       AWS or similar cloud platforms.

·       Queues, event-driven architectures, serverless technologies, and asynchronous processing.

·       Headless or composable commerce implementations.

·       Salesforce Core, Experience Cloud, or other Salesforce products.

·       Highly customized or high-volume SFCC implementations.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate understands SFCC beyond basic storefront customization. They should be comfortable designing and troubleshooting complex backend flows involving SFRA, platform APIs, services, jobs, payments, orders, integrations, caching, and platform configuration.
At the same time, they should approach problems as a senior backend engineer—understanding when functionality belongs inside SFCC, when it should be handled by an external service, and how the commerce platform fits into the broader enterprise architecture.
