Senior Support Engineer - Kubernetes

Job Summary

 

The Hosted Operations Engineer is responsible for maintaining, supporting, automation and enhancing hosted infrastructure environments. This role demands a strong background in monitoring, observability, and infrastructure automation, along with hands-on experience managing AWS cloud services.  

Key Responsibilities

System Maintenance & Operations 

  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support production systems, ensuring rapid response and resolution of critical incidents. 
  • Monitor hosted environments and ensure high availability and performance. 
  • Execute system upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance activities. 
  • Test systems during upgrade preparation and after implementation. 
  • Resolve incidents and ensure minimal downtime.   

Installation & Configuration 

  • Deploy and configure system software and applications. 
  • Update host network connectivity configurations. 
  • Modify system settings according to security policies and organizational guidelines. 

Testing & Validation 

  • Strong automation skill in Ansible, Terraform and Python. 
  • Perform comprehensive testing of system installations and upgrades. 
  • Ensure software and systems operate without errors. 
  • Validate deployments against user and business requirements.
  • Knowledge of messaging systems (RabbitMQ) and exposure to monitoring and observability tools (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Grafana) 

Skill Requirements

Mandatory Technical Skills Required 

 Cloud & Infrastructure 

  • Excellent hands-on experience of AWS (EC2, Security Groups, EBS, EFS, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, S3, VPC, IAM, etc.) 
  • Strong Linux fundamentals and log analysis skills  

Automation & Configuration Management 

  • Strong Ansible:  Proficient in developing and managing Ansible playbooks and automation workflows 
  • Terraform: Advanced knowledge of Terraform-based infrastructure automation and orchestration. 

Scripting & Programming 

  • Strong Python knowledge required for scripting. 
  • Basic Bash scripting
  • Basic Java knowledge (for troubleshooting)
  • YAML (for configuration files) 

DevOps Tools 

  • Jenkins (CI/CD pipelines) 

Database 

  • MYSQL 

Other Requirements

  • Should be able to work in shifts
  • Excellent Communication skills.
