Role 2:- Electronics & Embedded Consultant, Location: ChennaiSeeking for a Senior Electronics & Embedded Consultant with strong expertise in embedded hardware, firmware, and real-time systems to work on ABB Ability™ System 800xA–based Distributed Control System (DCS) platforms. This role is suited for engineers who work close to the product, contributing to controller electronics, embedded firmware, platform modernization, reliability, and long‑term evolution of DCS systems. The consultant will operate as a hands‑on, embedded team member supporting product transformation, harmonization, and next‑generation architecture initiatives.Key Responsibilities1. Embedded & Electronics Engineering (Core)Design, analyze, and support embedded electronics platforms used in ABB DCS environments (e.g., controllers, I/O modules, interface boards).Work on embedded firmware development and enhancement for real‑time industrial control systems supporting System 800xA environments.Contribute to board bring‑up, low‑level drivers, BSPs, and hardware–software integration activities.Support CPU, memory, I/O, communication interface and power‑related design considerations for industrial-grade electronics.2. Real-Time & Firmware DevelopmentDevelop and maintain embedded C/C++ firmware on real‑time operating systems used in industrial automation platforms.Work on real‑time performance, interrupt handling, task scheduling, latency optimization, and deterministic behavior.Support protocols and low‑level communication stacks relevant to DCS and controller environments.Debug complex firmware issues across hardware, OS, and application layers.3. DCS Platform & Controller Architecture (800xA Context)Work closely with System 800xA controller architecture (e.g., AC 800M and related platforms) from a hardware–firmware perspective.Support controller lifecycle activities such as enhancements, migration, backward compatibility, and installed‑base protection.Contribute to platform consolidation and unification efforts across multiple DCS variants under a common architecture.4. Reliability, Safety & Industrial QualityEngineer solutions aligned with high‑availability, redundancy, failover, and fault‑tolerant requirements of DCS platforms.Support compliance with industrial safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements relevant to automation controllers.Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for field issues related to electronics or embedded software.5. Verification, Validation & Lifecycle SupportSupport hardware and firmware verification & validation, including stress testing, performance testing, and long‑duration reliability testing.Assist with field issue resolution, escalation support, and collaboration with service and commissioning teams when required.Contribute to technical documentation, design records, and as‑built product knowledge.6.
